CHRISTMAS NAIL ART: Graphic Blue & White Snowflake Nails

by - December 06, 2022

I really feel like very few people would disagree if I said that there are basically 5 holiday season colors - Red, Green, Gold, Blue and White. Obviously there are other solstice adjacent holidays other than Christmas and Hanukkah but I think those tend to be the ones the sort of drive the story here in North America and as a result drive the colors that we associate with the season. Anyway, all of this is to say that I just absolutely love a really bold, festive, sparkly blue at this time of year so for this one I decided to pull out one of my long time favorite blue polishes to use during the holidays and put together this simple but quite impactful snowflake mani that's perfect for the season regardless of what you do or don't celebrate.

In pictures Starrily's Diamond Rain**, one of the gorgeous collab shades that they brand has done with Kelli Marissa, is absolutely gorgeous, but it's even better in person. Described as multidimensional holographic flakes in a deep sapphire base, this is by far one of the most impactful, gorgeous polishes that I own and it looks amazing in literally whatever light you're standing in. For me it doesn't reflect a ton of the holographic rainbows that I know some people are really all about, but it has so much depth and dimension that I really don't miss that at all. Seriously, stunning and super pigmented and amazing and and and.... This bottle was gifted to me from NailStuff.ca and is available on the site if you want to snag it and if you've never shopped there and you feel so inclined, you can use affiliate code TRYSH for 10% off your first order.

So for this mani, I started by applying two coats of Diamond Rain to all of my nails and letting those dry down.

Now for the stamping! I love this plate from Pict You, which I picked up on Aliexpress, because it has so many gorgeous graphic snowflakes images that you can mix and match to create endless different nail designs. For this mani, I took a lot of inspiration from a design I did using this plate last year, but I changed it up a little for a new look. My biggest focus when putting together this design was to carry through the triangles on each nail to really keep it cohesive. I used 2 or 3 different images per nail with the images on my middle two nails kept towards the center while the outer nails have images at opposing corners, which I think gives a little bit of added visual interest as well. Honestly, I feel like this style of design is wide open, so it's really about what you're into, but I really like to think about balance and cohesiveness when planning a mani like this.

Once I was happy with this design, I sealed everything in with a nail art top coat and then followed with a generous layer of glossy top coat for shine and volume. And voila!

Another thing that I love about this type of mani is that it really comes together quickly without too much fuss but has enough visual interest that it feels it should have taken longer, if that makes sense. At this time of year when I'm doing so much Christmas and holiday themed nail art, I love a mani that comes together quickly but still packs a punch.
