NAIL ART: Blue & White Reflective Starry Sky Nails

by - May 31, 2023

I've been using and loving KADS products for quite a while now, but recently they reached out to me and asked if I wanted to try out any of their new products - and I ABSOLUTELY DID. One of the plates I was most excited to try out was SKY 011, which is this really great sort of space themed plate that I knew would be absolute perfection for a galaxy mani. Of course, I didn't want to be entirely obvious with my first use - and I wanted to use one of the reflective glitter polishes that they sent along as well - so instead I went with this really simple but impactful  night sky design.

Keep reading for more.

Because the reflective polish I used for this mani was quite sheer and doesn't really build to complete opacity, I decided to go in with a sheer white undie to camouflage my visible nail line. Polished For Days Soft Focus Base Coat in Snow is new to me and it is absolutely lovely. It's a soft, slightly sheer white base coat that gives a really nice base for this type of polish and also brightens everything up somewhat. I applied one coat of Snow to all of my nails as my base.

Next, I went in with two coats of KADS Starry Desert*, which is this really rich smoky blue sheer packed with silver reflective glitters. It lost a lot of depth in application, which you can see in the photos, but I really love the look that was created with the pairing of the sheer white undie and this polish. It created a really interesting depth, I think.

For the stamping, I wanted to keep it really straightforward, so I just did some basic one polish, full cover stamping. Now, my nails are quite often too long for KADS full cover images, which tend to be quite a bit smaller, but I found the images on this plate specifically to be really easy to adjust and build onto in order to fill my nails. Specifically, I added stars above the moon on my ring finger and stars at the base of my first finger. The rest of my nails I was able to just use single images.

Once I was happy with the design, I sealed everything in with a nail art top coat and then finished with a generous layer of glossy top coat for shine. And voila!

Admittedly, I'm not such a huge fan of flash reflective polishes because of the texture they leave behind and the very specific circumstances that you can actually see the reflective properties, but this is just sort of perfection. When you get the reflection within the context of the starry night design, it not only deepens the look of the blue, but it really just gives the overall impression that the whole design is much more intricate and deep. I love that. Also, this polish did smooth with just a regular top coat and I didn't have to grab for a glitter smoother, which is a huge plus in my book.

Overall, I'm super impressed with both this polish as well as the stamping plate. The performance on both was really good and I love the look that came together from the pairing. If you're interested in trying out any KADS products, I've always purchased mine through Aliexpress and shipping as well as customer service has always been really solid.

Thanks for reading!
