Prairie Beauty

I swear, it happens every year - I fall back in love with gradients in the springtime. Now, this may be because I like the look of pastel or muted gradients better than the more saturated shades that I tend to reach for the rest of the year. Actually, now that I think about it, that's almost certainly why I tend to do so many gradients in the springtime. Anyway, I always forget how much I love doing them and how quick and easy they really are when you're using the right products and have the technique down, but now that I'm back into the swing you can expect some more gradients popping up here on the blog in coming weeks!

I will fully admit that I'm diving headfirst into the Easter theme at the moment. What can I say, I just absolutely love a theme. Also, as soon as I saw the Whats Up Nails B074 A Flower A Day Stamping Plate*, I knew that I was going to do some version of today's mani - though I will admit that the details and specifics were a little bit hazy in my mind until I actually sat down to do them. Sometimes the vision is super clear and other times you just sort of have to wing it, but I really do think you can end up with amazing results either way.

As usual, I am an absolute fiend for a theme, so now that we're within spitting distance of Easter it's time to bust out the pastels and the bunnies and the Easter eggs to dive right in. Pretty much every year I do some kind of pastel Easter Egg Skittle Mani and, of course, this year wasn't going to be any different - especially when the new Whats Up Nails B074 Stamping Plate* has the absolute perfect speckled image for it!

I don't know what it is about spring, but it seems like every year as soon as spring hits I find myself with a renewed desire to do gradients. Although, now that I think about it, it may honestly be because my favorite gradients are in fresh spring shades. For today's Easter mani, I went full out with just straight up pastel candy shades to create a gradient that looks yummy enough to eat and, not going to lie, I'm fairly obsessed with it.

So the thing is... I don't handpaint often when it comes to nail art, but when I do it's super easy and basic and if it needs finer details I tend to go in with stamping, like I did for today's mani. This mani was inspired by this one, from When Beauty Calls By Georgina on Instagram, but of course I to put a little bit of my own personality into it with a speckled indie base polish, a matte finish, and some seriously chubby little buns.

Anyway, without further ado, keep reading for a closer look!

My favorite part of Easter is pretty simple - Cadbury Mini Eggs. In my opinion, they're just a pretty perfect seasonal candy and I never don't enjoy them. I've done Mini Eggs inspired Easter nail art before and I'm sure I'll do it again in a classic speckled skittle fashion, but this year I wanted to do it a little bit differently and add some negative space stamping for a little bit of a different look. I mean... who doesn't like some cute little eggs?

Man, I love a theme. Honestly, I'm kind of amazed that I haven't jumped on every possible holiday I could to create themed nail art - in fact, I'm kind of shooken that I missed St Patrick's Day, but... it happens. Anyway, Easter is a great theme for a few pretty obvious reasons. Pastels are great for nails. Honestly, I get SO EXCITED for pastel season because I just love working with them, I love the manis that I create with them, and I feel like they're really universally flattering. Also, bunnies are adorable and easter eggs are... a treasure trove of design possibilities. Anyway, I love a theme and I am going to ride this theme into the ground possibly... but here is my first 2021 Easter themed mani!

I have to admit that my plan for this week's Easter themed #CBBxManiMonday didn't go entirely as planned because of... you know, Easter. Holiday weekends can get a little crazy, but I also got sick on Friday and literally spent the whole day in bed, so all of the baking I had planned on doing that day got pushed and blah blah blah... It was a busy weekend and when I sat down to do my nails, I had little time or energy. I did actually try to hand paint some pretty cute bunny nails and they turned out pretty good, but my impatience got the better of me and I topcoated too soon and smeared the design all over my nails. So. I went back to basics and kept it cute and springy with these Pastel Floral Easter Nails.

Hey guys! This upcoming weekend is Easter, so of course me and the #CBBxManiMonday girls had to get some Easter nails going. I have to admit, I really struggled with what to do for this mani and tried out a few things that just didn't work and were taken off pretty much immediately. In those situations, what tends to work best for me is to go with what I know and doing that in this case resulted in what I think is a pretty damn cute mani that I'm calling my Pastel Smoosh Easter Egg Nails.
