Sometimes when I've been doing a lot of nails that are really busy or deep in a theme or whatever, I just need a bit of a palette cleanse. Sometimes that means I just want to choose a nude or muted polish and not do any nail art, but other times I still want to do nail art... I just want to keep it fairly simple and soft. That's definitely where I was at when I sat down to do this mani. I actually had something much more involved planned but I just couldn't get into it and ultimately decided to do something really soft and light and a little bit delicate feeling - and I'm kind of obsessed with it.

Though it very much wasn't my intention and I didn't even really notice until several hours after finishing doing today's mani, I definitely inadvertently created a nail art that just straight up reminds me of the school picture day background of my youth. Don't get me wrong, I know it isn't a straight up recreation - that would be a bit of a stretch for something so unintended - but way the graphic lines and the shades in the gradient vibe together just completely makes me think of all of the absolutely tragic school pictures my mom has of me from over the years. Ugh. Anyway, I like the mani though!

When it comes to modern ways to use neon nail polishes, I think my favorite is the pairing of a really beige-y nude shade paired with neon tips in a gradient fashion. The great thing about pairing a beige shade with a bolder color in a gradient is that you really shouldn't have to worry about the blend getting muddy or the colors clashing and looking weird. For today's mani, I decided to go with what I like to think of as a double gradient - a gradient on each nail to create that French fade vibe, but also a gradient of neons for a skittle mani, of sorts.

One of my favorite types of mani's to do during the hotter months of the year are the really warm toned sunset gradients. I think there's a lot you can do with them - and actually a lot of ways to do them - but for this mani I really wanted to just keep it simple and almost a little bit expected. I went with a purple to orange neon gradient with some beachy stamping and I'm a little bit in love.

I will admit that I've been sneaking peeks at my Color Club neons collection for several weeks now - the spring weather here in Winnipeg has been hitting mid-summer highs and it's messing with my brain - but now that it's finally June I felt like I was ready to pull them out. And like... basically at midnight I got this idea in my head and just had to get it onto my nails. It's June, so I'm all about rainbows and all of the ways that you can do different types of rainbows and spectrums and this one is the full on eight color gradient that it's a little bit of a lot but just so fun!

I swear, I am so, so excited for summer nail art this year and now that we're into June, the time has arrived. And, of course, with June comes pride month and an excuse to do all kinds of beautiful rainbow nail art in support of the LGBTQ+ community. Definitely expect to see more rainbow themed nails in upcoming weeks. For today's mani, though, I went with some of my favorite pastel neon polishes from Color Club to create this beautiful sort of spectrum mani with some free form wiggly stamping and... I'm kind of obsessed.

We've definitely gotten to the point where the days are getting longer and there's something about the sweet spot we're in right now - when I get to the point in the evening when it's time to relax and take a  breath, the colours of the sky are just absolutely beautiful. So, of course, that's the reason that to me this is a springtime sunset gradient mani - I have a strong and very positive association with these colours in my head that I associate with this time of year.

I don't know what it is about spring, but it seems like every year as soon as spring hits I find myself with a renewed desire to do gradients. Although, now that I think about it, it may honestly be because my favorite gradients are in fresh spring shades. For today's Easter mani, I went full out with just straight up pastel candy shades to create a gradient that looks yummy enough to eat and, not going to lie, I'm fairly obsessed with it.

It's weird... I'm the green nail polish girl. I love green nail polish, I own a ridiculous number of green polishes, and yet for this month's #CBBxManiMonday Green theme, I'm on the struggle for inspiration. For today's mani, though, as soon as the inspiration hit, I had to get it on my nails. I find the gradients in different succulents, particularly different hens and chicks, to be so, so, so pretty and it occurred to me that it could be worth a try to see how a gradient of those dusty greens and purples/pinks would blend on the nails. Sometimes fighting to figure out what to do on your nails in a certain theme can be the worst possible course of action... but if you stop and just sort of let it marinate, a great idea can turn on like a lightbuld while you're hunkered down watching Disney+...

After the success of my last mani, I just had to try out another water spotted mani to go with the Whats Up Nails March Nail Art Challenge prompt. I went into this with the plan to do something completely and totally different from these ones, but I didn't realize just how much these were going to look like a different technique entirely in the end. Funny how that works, right? Anyway, I feel like it's a pretty solid example of how the exact same technique, with a couple of tweaks, can give you entirely different results!

I really, really want to start doing more nail art challenges because I'm having such a good time with the prompts from the Whats Up Nails March Nail Art Challenge. The second prompt for the month is Ombré Stamping and since that's actually not something I do all that often, I'm having a good time digging down into my stamping polishes to get some really pretty gradients. I'm kind of obsessed with this mani, you guys. Like literally, I keep pausing typing just to look down at it in person....

Hey guys! I must admit, I was a little bit unsure if I was even going to have anything to post today, but being that it's the last #CBBxManiMonday of the year there was no way I was going to let myself miss it. Of course, after the marathon of holiday nail art that I just finished up last week, the creativity and energy was a little bit sapped - so I decided to keep it simple. One of the first sets of stamping plates that I picked up when I was determined to try out stamping for the first time was the Maniology (then Bundle Monster) Festival Plates set and it's a set that I inevitably end up pulling out every summer because there are just so many great images that I can use to pull together a mani. I actually hadn't chosen what I was going to stamp with when I did the gradient base for this mani using two STUNNING holo polishes that were gifted to me from NailStuff.ca, but as soon as I had the gradient applied I knew exactly what I needed to reach for.
