My Go-To 5 Minute Face (No Makeup Look)
I think every woman, even those of us with near shamefully large make-up collections, has days where there's just no energy or time or even desire to put on a full face of make-up before heading out to start the day. Sometimes all you need is a few products that give you a confidence boost that your skin looks smooth and even and all it takes is a couple of minutes between the brushing of the teeth and the running out the door.
Lately, I've been giving in to the call of the Snooze Bar and finding myself without much time to get myself ready before I have to head to work, so I've been defaulting to my go-to no make-up look. For me, this look only requires 6 products and 1 tool to get me out the door.
To be fair, I do usually end up doing some kind of basic eye look at some point later in the day (at my desk or on my lunch break generally) but that's generally unnecessary for me. This is also a look that I quite frequently do on the weekend when Saturday is all about breakfast with friends and errands in the afternoon. It's easy and quick and just polishes me up without looking "done up."
Keeping reading for more...
1. L'Oreal Revitalift Moisture Blur Instant Skin Smoother
This is actually a product that I could actually just use on its own if I didn't want to add any actual make-up to my face. It's a thick cream product that's meant to smooth away imperfections in skin's texture and I find that it really does work to minimize the look of my pores. I don't see much difference in the fine lines I have under my eyes, but that isn't really what I'm looking for so this gets it done just fine as a base for me.
2. Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream Bright Fit in N02
Earlier this year I went on a bit of a tear trying to find the right BB cream for me. I find that most North American BB creams end up breaking down on my skin and leaving it looking and feeling greasy by the end of the day, so I decided to try Korean and I absolutely love this one. It feels like on your skin, but gives me the kind of coverage that I need on the day to day. I find that it wears really well on my skin, matches really well with my skin tone, and holds up well throughout the day. I'm pretty sure that I'm willing to give this BB cream Holy Grail status in my collection.
3. Rimmel Stay Matte Long Lasting Pressed Powder in 003 Natural
This is my favourite powder, which I think I've mentioned before. A light dusting of this sets my BB cream nicely without adding too much product to my face. It also smooths the appearance of pores even more and keeps me looking smooth and even (which I'm sure you've noticed is my #1 directive with this particular look.) Sometimes I might brush on a little bit of a touchup at some point in the afternoon, but on my skin that's often not even necessary.
4. NYX Mosaic Powder in MPB 08 SPICE
When I want a really natural look to my cheeks, this is absolutely the blush that I reach for. It adds just enough colour to liven up my face without looking at all like I'm wearing product. I actually really enjoy NYX blushes across the board, but I'd be willing to step out and say that this one is my favourite simply because it gives me a natural look that can go with almost any look I'm doing - from this natural look to a really dramatic evening look.
5. Ecotools Angled Kabuki from the Limited Edition Kabuki Set
I love this little brush and have no shame about the fact that when I do a look like this and don't want to pull out my brush roll, I use this for both powder and blush. The bristles on this brush are so incredibly soft and somehow it manages to hold just the right amount of product for a nice, light application to the face. Also, the fact that it's so tiny means that it's easy to carry around with me for touchups or on the go application.
6. Innisfree Green Tea Mineral Mist
I mentioned this product in last month's monthly favorites and it still holds a crown of being something I use really regularly (although I think the Vichy Eau Thermale might keep me from repurchasing this one, since I can get a similarly sized bottle easily at Shoppers Drug Mart rather than having to wait for shipping from Korea). This just freshens up the fact and takes away any powderiness left behind by the powder so that skin has a little bit of natural looking dewiness. Also, it smells really fresh and yummy and helps me feel awake and chilled out. I like.
7. EOS Smooth Sphere Lip Balm in Raspberry Pomegranate
The last step is a little bit of lip balm. Though the one pictured here is EOS, I also like my Nivea Milk & Honey Lip Balm as well as the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment. Pretty much any balm that smooths and moisturizes my lips will do, in this case. BUT I love this one a lot and it lives in my purse at the moment so it gets a lot of attention. These EOS lipbalms continue to be a favorite for me.
So there you have it. My No-Make-Up-Make-Up Look in 6 easy steps.
If you have a little more time on your hands, you can do a quick eye look by contouring the eyes with some matte shadows to deepen up the crease and brighten up the lid, tightline your upper lash line, and throw on some natural looking mascara. Also, a sheer gloss with no shimmer on the lips can look pretty as well.
