UNBOXING: Ipsy July 2015
I'm back! Not sure how many of you knew I was gone, since there were still scheduled posts happening on the blog here. While I was away in Toronto, I got to meet a great group of bloggers from the CBB Network for dinner, but didn't get to do as much shopping as I was hoping for while I was there. Luckily, I came home to all of this month's subscription boxes waiting for me... so look for more of these posts through the rest of this week! I'm so happy to be back and blogging!
You may recall from my spoilers post earlier this month that I was pretty excited about a lot of the products that were going to be included in this month's Ipsy bag. Well, I didn't get any of the products in my dream bag, but I have to say I'm still pretty happy with this month's bag - especially one of the products!
So without further rambling from me, keep reading for a closer look!
Octavio La Playa Sea Salt Spray - 2oz Sample - Value $7.75
When I had longer hair, I used to love sea salt spray but I don't use it much these days. Still, I feel like this is a really generous sample and will definitely get used, whether it's by me or by my boyfriend. I really like this bottle as well. It has a kind of rubbery outer, which I think makes it feel a little more expensive, and a nice, find mist. Not sure how I feel about the smell, though. It's not offensive, but it makes me think of my late Grandpa for some reason.
Vasanti Brighten Up! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator - 20g Sample - Value $5.60
I actually took a sample of this that I got in a Birchbox on my vacation with me and I'm not the hugest fan of it. I'm going to keep playing with it and possibly try it on a sponge so that I don't have to feel that tiny grittiness on my hands, but we'll see. Might be a little too harsh for my skin, I prefer chemical exfoliation to manual.
Be A Bombshell Lip Balm in Ruby - Full Size - Value $14
Admittedly, I was initially a little disappointed with this, but I tried it on my lips and it's actually quite nice. This shade gives a subtle rosiness to my lips that I think is quite pretty and the texture is smooth and thick enough that I feel like it will actually do something. It has no smell or taste to it, which was a little surprising but not a bad thing at all.
Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer in Park Avenue Princess - 3g Sample - Value $12.37
I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this bronzer since I tend to stick to mostly matte bronzers these days, but I actually completely love it. I love the Park Avenue Princess shade and I think that this formula gives a nice glow to the skin without looking shimmery or weird. Also, this is a very generous sample size that I know I'll get a lot of use out of.
Aurora Gel Effect Nail Lacquer in 4 Alarm Fire - Full Size - Value $8.99
I wasn't quite sure how I was going to feel about this, but I'm very impressed. This sort of neon coral pink shade is perfect for summer, especially on the toes, and this formula is surprisingly good when swatched. Not sure about lasting power yet, but my initial thoughts are really positive. Also, it has the perfect brush for my taste, so I think I'm going to enjoy using it.
Total Value: $48.71
Like I said, I'm actually surprised at how happy I am with this bag. I definitely would have preferred not to get the Vasanti scrub since I know it's not to my personal taste, but I do think other people might really like it since it's not an outright dud. The bronzer is phenomenal, the nail polish is really good, and I'm not mad at the salt spray or the lip balm. What more could I ask for? You know, other than my dream bag from the spoilers post.
If you're interested in joining Ipsy, now is definitely the time.
