REVIEW: L'Oreal Brow Stylist Definer in Brunette

by - February 25, 2016

For a long time, there weren't a lot of great options in the drugstore when it came to brows. I mean, you could get it done, but the really stand out products were high end. Lately, though, the drugstore has been upping their game when it comes to brow products and, in my opinion, no brand has done that with more success than L'Oreal. Over the course of 2015, one of my absolute favorite brow products was the Brow Stylist Plumper - which, for some reason, I never got around to reviewing here on the blog. Anyway, when they released new brow products recently, I absolutely had to pick up the Brow Stylist Definer and see how it held up. Wanna know how it held up?

Keep reading for a closer look!

About L'Oreal Brow Stylist Plumper:
L'Oréal's Brow Stylist Definer makes the art of the brow made easy! Shape brows with this ultra-fine 0.5mm pencil tip - a perfect tool to recreate tiny brow hair and allowing you to precisely draw and shape your brows for a well-defined look.

Benefits:

  •     High-defining brow pencil
  •     Mimics natural brow hair by gradual shaping
  •     L'Oreal's most defined brow look

For me, it's absolutely all about a fine tipped, retractable brow pencil. Really, ever since I discovered the Anastasia Brow Wiz, any other format has fallen terribly short. With this type of tip, it's easy to create really fine, hair-like strokes to give a really natural look to the brow. I find that both the size of this tip and the formula, which lies in the sweet spot right between waxy and creamy, really does give a natural looking brow without having to work too hard at it.

Of course, you've gotta have a spoolie on the end of a brow pencil these days, and L'Oreal chose a really good one. It's hard to explain the difference between a good spoolie and a not so good spoolie, but I prefer the ones that are more straight up and down than tapered, because I feel like they are the easiest and most effective to use. This could really be a matter of preference, but this is definitely the type of spoolie that I prefer personally.

As you can see in the swatch, the brunette shade is a mid-toned neutral brown that I have to say is pretty perfect for my brows. If you're used to using something that's more taupe in tone, this might be a little bit shocking to you, but I actually really like the natural look that this gives my brows. It's not too dark or warm, which is another one of those issues that used to run through drugstore brow products and are starting to be remedied recently.

One place that, for me, even the drugstore brow products that I've really loved have fallen short of my beloved Anastasia Brow Wiz has been wear time. Even the products I really love end up fading throughout the day. This one, however, really seems to cling and last through the day the way that the Anastasia does.

Honestly, I think this has surpassed the NYX Micro Brow Pencil as my favorite brow product from the drugstore. I think it's great quality, quality that even rivals my high end favorite, at a very competitive price. How can you go wrong? This definitely gets my stamp of approval & recommendation.
