SUBSCRIPTION: Ipsy Spoilers February 2016

by - February 04, 2016

It's that time again! I swear, I become a bit of an Ipsy stalker in the first few days of every month, trying to get to the spoilers almost as soon as they're up. I was especially looking forward to this month's early access, because they released a sneak peek on Monday that was very exciting - and made me feel quite hopeful.

I'm not going to ramble on, because I know people just care about the spoilers, so keep reading to take a look!

This was the first sneak peek, which definitely contains some higher end samples, and made me hopeful that I was FINALLY going to get a Mary-Lou Manizer to try, especially since I've already gotten the Bye Bye Undereye (SO GOOD!), the Mr. Write (Now), and a polish by Trust Fund Beauty in previous bags. I figured my chances for Mary-Lou were pretty good... And I was hoping I wasn't going to be getting the Smashbox Primer Oil.

So.... Here's what I'm getting in my bag this month...

1. Smashbox Cosmetics Primer Oil
2. Trust Fund Beauty Nail Polish in I'm Kind Of A Big Deal
3. Naked Cosmetics Mica Pigment
4. Seraphine Botanicals Carrot + Rose Hydrating Cream
5. Margaret Dabbs London Miniature Crystal Nail File

Ugh. If that bottle of the Smashbox Primer Oil is as small as it appears to be (and it probably is) I am going to be very, very unimpressed. You guys know I get kind of salty about sample size when they're just damn tiny, but I have an extra salty spot for tiny Smashbox primer samples - especially after the joke size samples Sephora was selling for Black Friday. Anyway, I'm not all that impressed with my bag this month. Primer oil = bleh. Pink nail polish = RARELY IF EVER. Pigment = Maybe it'll be alright. Cream = Meh. Nail File = We'll see how I like it. It's like that.

So let's see what other people are getting so I can be jealous, shall we?

Overall, I feel like there are some good products in this month's bag, but the selection of products will inevitably lead to some really disappointing bags.  I personally think that one of the problems with Ipsy is their curation sometimes. Sometimes I think that if they were to stick to maybe 10 different products that were overall really good, you would see less variation in quality of the bags. Sometimes there's months where a lot of people get mediocre bags, but some people get amazing bags, which make the mediocre bags seem even crappier. Know what I mean?

Anyway, I was able to put together a dream bag this month, so here are the 5 products that would make my personal perfect bag from this selection of products.

Clearly, if this bag were to come to my doorstep, I would be pretty much over the moon. I try to choose a selection of products from the different categories for my dream bags, because I feel like that's the way that Ipsy tends to do it and I would never actually get a bag filled with all makeup or all brushes or all hair care, know what I mean? Anyway, this is the bag I'll be dreaming of until I get the bag that I'm not particularly over the moon about.

Anyway, thanks for reading! I'd love to hear in the comments what you're getting in your Ipsy bag!
