REVIEW: Makeup Revolution The Matte Blush in Dare
So there are a lot of products that I've had photograped for ages and been meaning to review, but for whatever reason haven't gotten around to. Honestly, sometimes the blogger mind gets a little overwhelmed and things that get put off in favor of writing other posts end up waaaaay back on the backburner. Anyway, I'm trying to get some of these reviews out for you guys, even though the products aren't new anymore. To me, it's worth it to have these posts in my blog in case people are ever wondering about them in the future. I won't do this with Limited Edition products - because that's silly - but instead will just review permanent products that might not be new, but are definitely still available.
One of the products that I've been meaning to review is the Makeup Revolution The Matte Blush in the shade Dare. You guys probably already know that I love Makeup Revolution's powder products and I'm a huge blush junkie, so of course this was going to end up in my arsenal!
Keep reading for my thoughts on this product!
So, as the name says, this is an all matte blush formula. It's available in 6 shades. Now, I have to be honest... The picture on the website for the shade Dare is absolutely nothing like what it looks like in the pan. I actually had a friend pick this up for me when she was on a trip to the States and I chose this shade specifically, and I was a little shocked when it got to me because I was expecting a more muted mauve toned berry as opposed to this very bright Barbie pink. Because of this, I would look arouind the internet for people's swatches before ordering any of these blushes, just in case this isn't the only shade that isn't true to colour.
I actually really like the simple packaging of these blushes. Like most Makeup Revolution products that I've used, the packaging is simple black plastic with rose gold branding. The feel of this packaging is basically what'd you'd expect at this price point. They're nothing fancy or anything, but they get the job done and they have a secure snap on the lid - that's important to me. Their slim design means that even though the pan is pretty big, they're still fairly easy to store because they stack on top of each other nicely.
Speaking of the size of the pan. This is a very generously size blush at 0.31oz or 8.9g of product. This is at least 30% more product that most of the high end blushes that I checked out in curiosity as I was writing this. That's a big blush for £4.00!
Now, like I said above, this isn't the shade I was expecting it to be, but I do think it's a really beautiful shade for summer. I would say that this is a true blue toned Barbie pink. The pigmentation on this blush is pretty much out of this world and I would recommend using a light hand, particularly if you have fair skin like myself, or you can end up looking a little bit crazy. Of course, because it is so heavily pigmented I think that there's a pretty decent chance that this is going to show up on deeper skin tones. I definite;y don't think this is going to be a shade for everyone, but it is a pretty shade all the same.
The formula on these blushes, I have to say, is one of the best at this price point. The texture is just beautiful and really does feel like a much higher priced powder when you touch it. It's very smooth and creamy in texture and it blends really beautifully on the skin. I find the wear time to be pretty good on this, though I don't think it's mind blowing. It's just good. It lasts well throughout the day.
Honestly, I think this is one of the nicest formulas I have from a drugstore priced blush in my collection. I'm a little bit disappointed that the product photo on the website was so different from what's in the pan, because this isn't really a shade that I will get a ton of use out of, but I am interested in trying some more blushes in this line. I also do think that on deeper skin tones this shade would be gorgeous, because it's vibrant and pigmented enough to really show up.
Have you tried Makeup Revolution's The Matte Blush yet? It's available on the Makeup Revolution website and in stores that carry Makeup Revolution. (Of which there are unfortunately none in Canada yet that I know of! Frownyface.)
Thanks for reading!
