REVIEW: Nair Wax Ready Strips for Legs & Body*

I have something to admit... I've always been too scared to wax my body. Once upon a time, back when I didn't worry about saggy skin, I used to occasionally wax my eyebrows but any part of my body that's extra sensitive or takes up a wide area was off limits for waxing. That said, I've always been curious and have considered giving waxing a try. Recently, I had the opportunity to try out the Nair Wax Ready Strips for Legs and Body* and, though I was nervous, I was also excited. Because I've never waxed before, I know that I'm not exactly an expert reviewer - but I suspect there are a lot of people who are like me and haven't delved into the world of waxing, so I think I might have some worthwhile insight. I also decided to do a bit of an experiment with these, only waxing one leg and shaving the other to see the difference in the regrowth.

So, am I a waxing convert? Keep reading to find out!

So, as you can see, this product comes with 40 wax strips and 4 post waxing wipes. The wax strips are pressed together, so you just peel them apart and use each side of the strip to wax.

So now my experience... First off. It hurt. I mean, that was obviously going to be the case. Honestly, it really did feel like an intensified feeling of pulling off tape, which seems to make perfect sense. I got used to it after the first few strips, but there was definitely a wince and a hiss with every fresh wax strip and I honestly did consider giving up and hopping in the shower to just go back to my trusty razor. I persevered though and finished my leg. There were a few hairs that I did have to go in and clean up with a razor, because they just didn't want to come out. My leg felt a little bit numb by the end of it, but not sore, and each follicle was visible and slightly reddened. The wipe felt absolutely amazing on my skin after the experience. It has a thin, slightly oily feeling that was really soothing and hydrating, and my leg felt incredibly smooth when all was said and done. I had no irritation after using these and after about 24 hours, the follicle wasn't any more obvious than normal.

When I first finished up with my waxing, I wasn't entirely sure how I felt about it. It took a while and it definitely hurt, which made me wonder if it was worth it. Now, a week later, I'm 100% ready to tell you that I'm on board. Like I said above, I decided to test this product like an experiment, waxing one leg and shaving the other. The leg that I waxed is still incredibly smooth with no signs of regrowth, while the leg that I shaved has grown out to prickly and is in need of some more hair removal. I was going to say shave, but I'm definitely going to reach for the wax strips over the razor again.

Considering this was my first foray into waxing, I can't say how these measure up to other at home waxing products, but I quite liked them. It took a little bit of practice to get the hang of using them and as I was doing it, I definitely thought about quitting, but you really can't argue with the results. I think I'm a convert.

The Nair Wax Ready-Strips for Legs & Body* are available at most mass retailers and drugstores.
