FAVORITES: February 2017
So... I actually chose favorites for this month three separate times before I actually settling on what my favorites were going to be. I've been trying SO MANY products this month and I'm a little overwhelmed with how much I love a lot of them, but I definitely feel like I picked the creamiest cream of the crop of things I've been loving this month. I've got a TON of makeup with a little sprinkling of skin care and hair this month.
If you want to see what I've been loving, keep reading!
L'Oreal Infallible Lip Paints in Spicy Blush (Review)
This lippie has been the one that I've most consistently been reaching for this month because it's, by far, one of the easiest lip products in my collection. The shade is perfect with a wide range of looks and it's really easy to apply and comfortable to wear, what more could you ask for? I'm pretty in love with this, I have to say.
L'Oreal Colour Riche Collection Exclusive Lipstick in Jennifer's Nude
I almost never buy L'Oreal Colour Riche lipsticks because I have a very, very strong scent memory from high school attached to the smell of them. However, I picked up this shade because it's completely gorgeous and because I wanted to see how I feel about the smell now. It definitely doesn't bother me the way that it used to, and this slightly sheer nude shade is another one of the easiest lip products I could possibly reach for. Also, this is nearly a dupe for the NARS Lipstick in Dolce Vita - though this one is a little bit more pigmented and the shades aren't exactly on, I have tried this one one side and the NARS on the other and they look pretty much identical on the lips.
BITE Beauty The Lip Pencil in Shade 020 & 044 (Review)
These absolutely had to be featured in this month's favorites because I just continue to be completely impressed with them. The texture, pigmented, and staying power of these lip liners are kind of blowing most other options in my collection out of the water and I find myself specifically reaching for lip colours to pair with them simply because I want to use them. So good!
essence The False Lashes Mascara
This is one of those mascaras that I knew I was going to fall in love with as it started to dry out a little bit, and I was right. The drier it gets, the more I love. I will say, though, that when this is still quite wet I recommend really taking most of the product off the wand before you apply it because it can get a little bit clumpy if you don't. Still, super black, super volumizing, and keeps my lashes looking good all. day. long.
Annabella Chrome Single Eyeshadow in Gold
I have to say, this was definitely not an instant favorite for me. At first, I really didn't know what to do with it. However, since I've been using it lightly as an eyeshadow topper to give a bold, glittery look I've fallen completely in love with it - in love enough to put it on before work on a Tuesday, because glitter on a Tuesday morning is sometimes necessary. I actually love this enough that I went out and bought Rose Gold over the weekend. Will probably pick up the other shades as well!
Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette
Admittedly, I mostly reach for this palette when I want a really soft, pretty, glowy contoured eye because these shades work perfectly with my complexion to provide that. As with most permanent Too Faced products, the quality of these shadows is absolutely amazing and I'm a little bit in love. A lot of bit in love? I was way, way too late to this party. In the couple of months since I bought this, it really has become a staple in my collection and I suspect it's going to be a serious Spring staple as well.
Physicians Formula #Instaready Full Coverage Concealer (Review)
I had myself a pretty bad breakout this past month and I found that my typical foundations were just not covering the redness, so I was using this a lot on my cheeks to take care of that and it worked absolutely beautifully. I also love this for underneath the eyes, but the reason it's hitting the favorites this month is because of how it slayed when it came to hiding blemishes. This is serious drugstore out of the park winner.
NYX #NoFilter Finishing Powder
I decided recently that I wanted to try some more finishing powders with the intention of perhaps doing a blog post on them, and so I finally had an excuse to pick this up. The thing I like about this finishing powder is that it isn't too brightening - meaning that it doesn't make my pasty winter skin look even pastier - but it does a really nice job of blending everything seamlessly and giving a little bit of luminosity to help your skin look more flawless. Really, really loving this.
Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil
Last month, I featured another Drunk Elephant product in my favorites, but this month it has been ALL about this facial oil. I've been reaching for this almost every night to really deeply hydrate my skin because it's not too heavy and I find it sinks really nicely into the skin. Honestly, you guys, I really need to get some more Drunk Elephant into my life, because they kill it and I've heard amazing things about so many of their products.
John Frieda Frizz Ease Dream Curls Daily Styling Spray
If you follow me on Instagram, you'll know that I recently got a perm for the first time in my life. For a girl with naturally pin straight hair, dealing with actually styling a perm has been a little bit harrowing, but this styling spray has seriously helped. I feel like this helps to define and hold my curls without making them feel or look crunchy. So far, so very good with this one. (PS - I'm loving the perm!!)
NSpa Melting Cleansing Gel
I actually wanted to try this product for a long time and of course I only picked it up once it was no longer going to be available in Canada and fell in love with it. This is, apparently, what I do. The thing I love about this cleanser is that it melts to this absolutely silky, gorgeous oil on the skin and breaks down my makeup beautifully. This is a first cleanse for me and then I go in with a second cleanser to really clean my skin. I picked this up at Winners, fell in love, and then picked up a back up on clearance at Walmart, so if you're in Canada and this interests you I highly recommend you head down to those places and grab it before it's gone!
Is that a lot of favorites? I feel like that's a lot of favorites. This month has just really knocked it out of the park makeup-wise and I feel like I have some really good reviews coming up of products that I didn't mention here, but will likely be in next month's favorites!
