REVIEW: L'Oreal Infallible Paints in 314 Spicy Blush
It seems like whenever the big drugstore lines release their big batches of new products a couple of times a year, there's a release that I get really, really excited about. While I know that the L'Oreal Infallible Total Cover Foundation was the big excitement for a lot of people when it came to L'Oreal's new releases, for me it was all about the L'Oreal Infallible Paints Lipstick. I may or may not have stalked my local stores waiting to see them on the shelves (I did, clearly) and as soon as I saw them I picked up the shade that appealed to me the most - Shade 314 Spicy Blush! Of course, I went for the pinky nude when there were options everywhere from your traditional red and pinks to some of the most edgy shades in the drugstore like a grey toned taupey nude, a lavender and a both navy blue! I know, I know... Still, I like to go with what I know I'm most likely to reach for often, but I do give L'Oreal serious props for going outside the drugstore box with this line.

Liquid lipsticks have been all the rage for the past couple of years and
matte finishes have ruled the market, but there have also been these
more creamy versions that I think a lot of us are drawn to simply
because they're a little more comfortable and low maintenance. Still
highly pigmented, these are creamier than a gloss with a finish on the
lips that is very much like a traditional cream lipstick. This is
definitely the category that the L'Oreal Infallible Paints Lipsticks
fall into, in my opinion.
First, let's go ahead and talk about the applicator - which is a huge win in my opinion. Unlike a traditional doe foot, this sponge applicator has a curved divot in the tip that holds just the right amount of product for me to get full coverage over my entire lips without having to dip back into the tube. It also allows the applicator to somewhat curve around my lips, making applicator really easy and precise. I really think L'Oreal was on point when they chose their component for this product, because it's exactly what I want it to be.
The formula of this product is also really impressive to me. The pigmentation is fantastic and it does give me full coverage over the lips. The finish initially has a good amount of shine to it, but I find that as it wears that tends to go away and leaves a finish that I would describe as looking like a really hydrated matte. Basically, what I mean by that is that it loses the shine, but doesn't end up looking dry in the least. Like I said, the finish on this reminds me very much of a really highly pigmented cream lipstick. I find it to be quite hydrating and I don't have any problems with this formula clinging to stubborn winter dry patches on my lips. I find the wear time to be quite good and though it doesn't last as long on the lips as a matte liquid lipstick, I would argue that it looks good for longer than a lot of matte liquid lipsticks.
I would describe the scent of this product as being fruity with some sweetness to it. While I don't generally like fruity scents, this one doesn't bother me at all - which is good because I do find that it does linger lightly on the lips. If you're really sensitive to the scent of your lip products, I would recommend giving this a smell before you buy it - most places I've been have had testers that you can sniff.
Overall, I'm super impressed with this product and very much interested in picking up a couple more shades - maybe even the navy just because I have nothing like it in my collection. Of course, I can only speak to the formula of this particular shade and it's definitely a big winner for me.
The new L'Oreal Infallible Paints Lipsticks are available now anywhere that you can find L'Oreal products - which is clearly pretty much everywhere!
