SUBSCRIPTION: Ipsy Glambag April 2017

by - April 24, 2017

The thing that I'm finding about Ipsy is that as soon as I think I'm going to end my subscription, I get a couple of bags that I really, really love - and that's exactly what happened this month. The theme for April's bag is Side Show, which I think is a pretty interesting theme, but one that could pretty much contain just about anything, and I think that the selection of products in my bag is just about bang on for both my tastes and what I'm looking for in these types of bags. Intrigued?

Ciate London Bamboo Bronzer in Palm Island
I wasn't entirely sure how I was going to feel about this when I saw it in my glam room, specifically because bronzers can be pretty hit and miss on my skin tone, but I'm actually kind of in love with this and already considering picking up a full size. The depth and tone are just right on my fair skin, not too deep and with enough yellow to the base that it ends up looking really natural like I got a little bit of sun but didn't burn. Overall, I'm super happy with this!

Elizabeth Mott Show Me Your Glow Shimmering Shadow & Highlighter
Highlighter can be tricky for me, because I'm quite fair and so many highlighters seem to sit in the sweet spot for medium skin tones, but I think this one works pretty well - and will especially work well in the summer when I'm a little more bronzed up and looking to glow. I've tried this out both as shadow and highlighter and I think it works really beautifully either way, so I'm all about this. Tiny sample, though, I have to say.

Meg Twin Nail in Lovey Dovey
This pair of nail polishes is right up my alley. When I do my nails, I definitely tend to stick to créme finishes in shades that are pretty muted, so this is perfect. I've only swatched these quickly and wore them for a few hours and one coat pretty much disappeared immediately, but I'm looking forward to doing a whole manicure and seeing how it goes!

Hanalei Aloe Soothing Gel
For me, this is really the only thing in this bag that I'm not really excited about. It feels nice when I've tried it on the back of my hand, and I have a feeling that I'll be passing this along to my boyfriend come summertime. I'm struggling to say anything about this, because it's not like it's bad... it's just not something that I really feel much about.

Luxie 660 Precision Foundation Brush
I absolutely love getting brushes in my Ipsy bags. I've actually gotten some great ones over the years, but I think this might be my favorite that I've ever gotten. That said, I would absolutely never use this brush for foundation. I definitely prefer a denser brush than this for cream products, so this isn't really to my taste. However, I absolutely love this for applying blush and highlighter to my cheeks because it's small enough that it gives me some precision, but fluffy and soft so it blows out and diffuses everything. I've actually been using this brush literally every day since I got it!

Clearly I have been sucked right back into Ipsy with this bag - just like they always do. Even though the Canadian dollar makes Ipsy a lot more expensive than it used to be, I would happily pay what I paid for it for these items. Looks like I'm sticking around another couple of months!

If you're interested in joining Ipsy, it's $10US/month (plus $5US shipping for Canadian subscribers) and you'll receive 5 deluxe or full sized products every month in a unique makeup bag! Head over to to Ipsy to subscribe!
