REVIEW: Mirenesse Secret Weapon Supreme 24 Hr Mascara

by - October 06, 2017

Confession time... I'm a bit of a mascara junkie. I swear, at any given time I have at least 5 or 6 mascaras that I'm actively using and then inevitably a bunch more that I have on hand but am not really reaching for. It's an obsession - a constant search for the perfect mascara. Mascara is one of those things in makeup that I think can be really subjective, with different people looking for different things in their products. I personally need a mascara that's going to build some serious volume, hold a curl, and stay put even though my eyes, particularly my left one, water like mad. Recently, I've been testing out the Mirenesse Secret Weapon Supreme 24 Hr Mascara* and I had high hopes for it.

Keep reading to find out how this worked for me!

About:

Our first Ultra-light Stretchable Elastic-Gel formula in “Black Haven ” gives you ultimate Glossy Length, Volume and base to tip Lash Lift, creating a winged doe eye effect in seconds, a look so magical you could fly!

Can we just take a moment and talk about the packaging? I'm a little bit obsessed with the look of this mascara, which I think is just absolutely luxe. It has just enough gold used in just the right way to make it look really pretty without being over the top and I think the design of the tube is completely unique and just gorgeous.

The brush, I'll admit, isn't my personal favorite type of mascara brush. It's the type that is sort of bulbous at the base and tapers to a really narrow tip - kind of like a Christmas tree with a really rounded bottom. While it isn't my favorite, I do think it's an effective brush. The big base really helps to give a fluttery look to the ends of the lashes while the pointed tip is good for getting into the corners. My only complaint is that because the spaces between the bristles are pretty big, this can apply a little bit too much product and I sometimes have to go in with a lash comb to separate any clumps that form.

Now for the important part... This is a really, really good formula. The formula is super black, which is obviously a must for me. I personally find it to be more volumizing than lengthening, which I don't mind but I do think bears mentioning. I think I would personally like this formula with a brush that separated the lashes a little bit more than this one does, but that is really just a nitpick.

Now, the thing that really, really sells me on this mascara is the lasting power. This has lasted me through so many things. I've had long naps with this on and when I wake up and the rest of my makeup is smudged off or faded, this is still holding strong. I've also rubbed my eyes quite vigorously while wearing this and it hasn't smudged or flaked at all. Because it's so long wearing and basically bulletproof, it can be a little bit tricky to remove so when I use this I try to spend a little bit of extra time gently massaging my eye area with cleansing oil when I take off my makeup. I don't tend to personally use traditional eye makeup remover, so I can't really speak to whether that would work better.

Overall, while this hasn't taken the crown as my favorite mascara, I would still definitely recommend the Mirenesse Secret Weapon Supreme 24Hr Mascara* because I think it's quite good. This would be a great option for someone who, like my, has watery eyes and issues with mascaras bleeding or for someone who needs something that's going to be incredibly, incredibly long wearing. I wouldn't pick this up if you want a natural looking lash or if you're looking for something to give a lot of length, I would recommend this more for someone looking for a lot of volume.

Thanks for reading!
