FAVORITES: September 2017

by - October 10, 2017

My September Favorites are a little bit late this month and I'll admit that's because I didn't want to take pictures of them. I'm finding that my motivation seems to be going down further the earlier the sun sets lately, so I'm hoping that the cooler months will perhaps perk me up a little bit. I've also been a little bit slack on my makeup recently, lacking in creativity overall. Or maybe just shifting my creativity to my nail art - which I've been going hard with. Anyway, my favorites for September were pretty damn clear to me as soon as I thought about it, and there are some REALLY good ones.

Keep reading to see what I was loving in September - and am really still loving now.

MAKEUP FAVORITES
This month my makeup has been full on fall. I've been going for really warm toned eye and lip looks in more matte finishes and pairing them with natural looking skin, natural brows, and a light touch on the highlight and contour. Basically that makeup look is like my fall uniform.

L'Oreal Infallible Pro Matte Liquid Lipsticks (Review)
I'm obsessed with these. OBSESSED. I think this might be my favorite liquid lipstick formula ever. I have three shades so far (the shopping list has at least two more on it) but I've found that I can actually mix these shades together to get different lip looks without it impacting the formula. And this formula is INCREDIBLE. It's comfortable and I've easily gotten 16 hour wear out of it without it looking a cracked, faded mess. It's just so good, what more can I say?

Smashbox Drawn In. Decked Out. Shadow + Highlight Set (Review)
I'm so, so very glad that I bought this set and I've seriously been reaching for at least one of these palettes most days that I'm wearing makeup. The Ablaze palette is basically what fall dreams are mad of and the Highlight palette has actually really been getting it done for me. As far as holiday collections go, I feel like this is definitely a stand out for both value and quality.

tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush in Paaarty
I actually considered not getting the tarte birthday gift from Sephora this year, but I'm SO glad that I did because this blush is basically perfect for my skin tone. It just gives me the most natural, healthy looking flush and I'm just obsessed with this formula. I had actually forgotten how much I love the Amazonian Clay blushes, but I'm fully back on the train now.

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge
This is another one that I had kind of forgotten I enjoyed as much as I do. For me, it's really the shape of this sponge that puts it up there for me because the flat side is the one I'm most likely to utilize when applying my makeup. It's also super soft and super affordable - which are both pluses as well. Anyone else forget they loved the RT sponge?

SKIN FAVORITES
When I was thinking about what I've been loving for my skin recently, it was really all about cleansers and I've definitely tried some new ones recently that have been getting it done.

Robin McGraw Luxury Twinkle Twinkle You're A Star Brightening Polish (Review)
I've been using this about twice a week for a couple of months now, usually in the morning, and I'm kind of in love with this scrub. It's gentle enough that my skin doesn't get at all sensitive after I use it, but effective enough that my skin feels really smooth and soft. This has actually probably been my favorite physical exfoliant I've tried all year.

IASO Ghassoul Black Cleansing Oil
This was new to me this month after I picked it up on a whim and, though it's very different from my other cleansing oils, I've really been enjoying it. This is a much thinner, lighter formula than a lot of other cleansing oils that I've tried, but it does get in there and do a good job of taking off my makeup. After I use it, my skin feels really clean without any oil residue, which has meant that I've been able to use this as a morning cleanse as well.

L'Oreal Skin Expert Pure-Clay Cleanser Energizing & Brightening (Review)
Of these three, I think this one might be my favorite. I just love what this cleanser has been doing for my skin since I've been using it. It's effective at cleaning the skin, but I absolutely never feel dry or stripped after I wash my face with this, and I think it's really been helping my skin to look and feel better over all as a part of my skin care routine. Highly recommend trying this one out!

NAIL FAVORITES
Nails have definitely been at the forefront of my favorites recently, because I've been getting into nail art and pretty much constantly want to do my nails. I've actually used a bunch of nail polishes that I've loved in the past month, but these are the ones that really stand out for me.

Julep Holographic Top Coat in Desiree
I absolutely love this for its subtlety. It has really, really fine holographic glitters in it so it doesn't really feel like a glitter top coat, but it works well for perfecting a not-so-perfect gradient or for adding a little bit of something to a creme polish look.

AVON Gel Finish Nail Enamel in Luxe Violet
This shade is just dreamy to me. I've used it on its own and as a part of nail art - so often, in fact, that I've basically gone through half of this bottle already and I know I'm going to have to re-up on it. It's kind of a perfect cool toned nude shade the works really well with my personal skin tone. Also, the Gel Finish from Avon is a really nice formula, I'm super impressed.

Color Club Nail Polish in Beyond
Guh. This was a birthday gift from my best friend and I love it - and I actually think it's likely going to get a lot of us in October as well. Beyond is a black holo shade that feels kind of green/blue toned on the nails and dark, but interesting because of the holo. Clearly I'm late to the game, but the Color Club holos are just killing it for me at the moment.

I feel like this month's favorites were a little bit all over the place... but that could also just be my brain. I accept that the latter is likely to answer. Anyway, even though it was a kind of weird month, I feel like it was a good one. I've always been a huge fan of these early days of fall, so I'm always into the makeup that accompanies it.

As always, thanks for reading!
