MANI MONDAY: Leafy Green Earth Day Nail Art

by - April 23, 2018

Hey guys! For this week's Mani Monday, I've got a green on green on green Earth Day inspired mani! I have to admit, Earth Day nail art initially had me a little bit stumped, but ultimately I decided to just sit down and play and got inspired by an O.P.I. polish that I managed to grab at Winners last week and absolutely fell in love with!

Keep reading for a closer look and method to my madness on my Leafy Green Earth Day mani!

O.P.I. This Isn't Greenland was part of last year's Iceland collection, so it could be a little bit difficult to find now, but if you can find it I think it's worth it to pick up. I feel like this is probably not a shade that jumped out at a lot of people from the collection, but there was something about the undertone and depth of the muted mossy green that just absolutely called to me and I knew it would be perfect for Earth Day inspired nail art.

For my first and pointer finger, I used two coats of O.P.I. This Isn't Greenland and topped them with a coat of essie As Gold As It Gets for some texture and shine. The look of these two nails is quite subtle, as I wanted since they were going to be flanking more detailed nail art, but I also feel like the gold flakie topper looks earthy and makes everything flow a little more easily.

For the middle two fingers, I started with a thin coat of Sinful Colors Snow Me White and then followed with a smoosh of that same polish as well as O.P.I. This Isn't Greenland. I then applied a thin layer of base coat to just smooth out the colors and make it look a little bit softer. Next, using the leaf design in the top right corner of the Bundle Monster BM-XL13 Stamping Plate and a clear stamper from Born Pretty Store, I first stamped Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in In The Groove and then used the same plate with slightly shifted placement of the design to stamp Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in No S-Pear Time. I feel like the smoosh combined with the two layers of stamping really give these nails a lot of depth, but because they're very much in the same tone family it doesn't end up looking like too much.

I am seriously so, so happy with how this mani turned out. Initially, I wasn't quite sure how it would look when I was playing with the ideas, but I really love this look. Because of the polishes I chose, there are really subtle hints of gold in this mani that I think just really makes it interesting while still being quite subtle. Also, I'm just really kind of in love with O.P.I. This Isn't Greenland and I have a feeling that it'll get a lot of use in spring and fall 2018!

This week I collaborated once again with Renee from See The World In Pink and Jayne from Cosmetic Proof, so be sure to check out their Earth Day inspired nail art looks as well!

Thanks for reading!
