REVIEW: Physicians Formula The Healthy Foundation

by - April 24, 2018

I have to say, as soon as I saw that Physicians Formula was putting out a new foundation and that it had a significantly wider shade selection than they've ever had before, I was pretty interested, but it wasn't until I heard some seriously solid reviews that I decided to pick it up myself. The Physicians Formula The Healthy Foundation sounded right up my alley and I was excited to pick it up... but it did live up to my hopes?

Keep reading for my full review... which was almost comprised of just one word!

About:
A long-wearing, buildable, and breathable foundation that provides lightweight, medium coverage with a healthy, satin finish. Compatible with all skin types and featuring our exclusive Brightening Complex and Hyaluronic Acid to hydrate, brighten and improve the appearance of skin tone. Added boost of Vitamins A, C & E provides a flawless, healthy coverage.

I have to say... I'm kind of obsessed with this packaging. To look at and hold it, it really does feel like a much higher end product and definitely lives up to its fairly spendy-for-the-drugstore price point. I also really like that they included the massive doe foot applicator. I know some people aren't into this kind of applicator for complexion products, but I absolutely love it personally.

When it comes to the formula of this foundation, it's pretty much flawless in my eyes - which is actually making reviewing it surprisingly difficult. The review was almost just all of these pictures and the word "Flawless."

The coverage is solidly medium, right in that sweet spot where you can still see enough skin to look like people but with enough coverage to look like people with really good skin. The finish is a natural, slightly luminous finish but there really isn't any dewiness so I don't find that it breaks up or gets oily looking on me throughout the day. I'm always a little bit worried about any foundation that has "healthy" in the name because it can be a little bit too dewy and the wear time can suffer for it, but this strikes a nice balance between wear time and finish.

By far my favorite thing about this foundation is how it blends. I actually really couldn't believe it the first time I put on this foundation and went in with a flat top kabuki to blend it out and it was completely effortless. I actually don't even know if I can really communicate how easily this foundation blends. When I apply it, I sort of just apply little streaks of product over my entire face with the wand and then blend it out. I personally prefer to blend this with a brush because I feel like it maintains that solid medium coverage better than with a sponge, but the blendability is just as good with either method. I also find that because this really buffs into the skin so easily, this isn't a foundation where I have to worry about brush strokes all over my face. It's just... instantly perfect. I feel like this is one where you probably can't even imagine it until you've tried it yourself.

This is my new favorite foundation. Period. I've been reaching for it constantly and I rank it above even a lot of high end foundations that I own and do enjoy. Obviously it's all going to be a matter of preference when it comes to the formula, but I actually do think that this particular formula will actually work for a lot of tastes because it doesn't really skew too far in any direction. In fact, I've actually seen really solid reviews from people with a lot of different skin types for this foundation, which makes me feel confident about recommending it for people with different skin types than my own. And honestly, I seriously, seriously recommend this. In fact, I've already convinced multiple friends of mine to pick this up and they've really loved it as well.

The Physicians Formula The Healthy Foundation is available now - and because it's been out for a while, I've been starting to see it on sale as well, so if you're interested in trying it out definitely keep an eye out for that!

Thanks for reading!
