It's actually been quite a while since I've consistently used liquid liner, though because that tends to be more of a fall/winter makeup item for me that's not really surprising. Like a lot of people, I'm incredibly picky about liquid liner and I know myself well enough to know that I won't reach for one that isn't to my taste. I personally prefer a brush tip applicator, because regardless of how many people I've heard say that a sponge applicator is easiest to use, I've always found I get a cleaner, crisper application with a fine brush tip. It also has to be incredibly black in a formula that won't budge or fade throughout the day. Unfortunately, finding a liner that ticks all of those boxes can be pretty difficult.
The IT Cosmetics Superhero Liner* is housed in a packaging that matches the Superhero Mascara in that it's a sleek black tube that tapers towards the center and becomes wider at the ends. I wasn't sure how I was going to like this shape for applying my liner, but I actually find it really easy to hold and maneuver. It also features a beautiful brush tip applicator that tapers to a really fine, sharp tip. I find that brush tips have to be the right length, because both too long and too short brushes can be difficult to apply. Too short brushes can be tricky to get full coverage with in one sweep while too long brushes can be difficult to control. For me, this liner has just the right length for a really smooth, controlled application without having to mess too much try to get coverage.
As you can see, the brush comes to a really nice, fine point that I personally find really easy to control and get a crisp, thin line across the upper lashes. Because my eye shape can't handle too much eyeliner, I tend towards quite thin, delicate liquid liner and for me this has really been a great liner for that. In the picture below, you'll see that I didn't bring the line in all the way to the inner corner, but because I can be so precise in my application I'm able to get a smooth transition. I also find that I'm really able to get a sharp point on my wing, which is an absolute necessity in a liquid liner in my opinion.
The formula of the IT Cosmetics Superhero Liner* has also really been impressing me. As promised, this is a super black, super pigmented formula that I don't find I have to fight with to get a really defined, dense black line. It glides easily and I haven't struggled with any skipping, dragging or patchiness any of the times I've used it. Because I'm admittedly not the best at applying liquid liner, though not quite a novice, I appreciate that everything about this formula makes it really easy for me to apply this without struggle and get a really crisp, beautiful line.
The final thing that have absolutely fallen in love with about this liner is how well it stays on my eyes. Since I've been testing this in one of the hottest summers I can ever remember experiencing, I've really put it through the wringer as far as sweating and humidity is concerned and it's held up beautifully. By the end of the day, even if my eyeshadow has faded or creased, this is still going strong with only the minimum of fading. As you can see in the picture above, once it has set it's pretty bulletproof. Rubbing at it didn't do much damage at all, splashing it with water didn't do anything, and it didn't start to disappear until I applied water and rubbed at it. Not too shabby, right?
Can you tell I'm obsessed? I'm obsessed. I think this might be my favorite liquid eyeliner I've ever used. It has exactly the kind of applicator that I prefer, it applies easily and with dark black pigmentaton in one swipe, and it lasts really well through even the most makeup melting conditions. In my opinion, this liner is well worth the purchase and I have a feeling I'll be choosing this one over all others in the future!
The IT Cosmetics Superhero Liner* is available now at Sephora and retails for $32CAD. Check it out!
