MANI MONDAY: Pastel Floral Easter Nails

by - April 22, 2019

I have to admit that my plan for this week's Easter themed #CBBxManiMonday didn't go entirely as planned because of... you know, Easter. Holiday weekends can get a little crazy, but I also got sick on Friday and literally spent the whole day in bed, so all of the baking I had planned on doing that day got pushed and blah blah blah... It was a busy weekend and when I sat down to do my nails, I had little time or energy. I did actually try to hand paint some pretty cute bunny nails and they turned out pretty good, but my impatience got the better of me and I topcoated too soon and smeared the design all over my nails. So. I went back to basics and kept it cute and springy with these Pastel Floral Easter Nails.

My plan all along was to alternate a soft lavender and a buttery pastel yellow for my base, so I did keep that plan at the end of the day. I alternated between Pure Ice Sweet Serenity and Crayola + Sally Hansen Canary for the bases. These are a super springy pairing, in my opinion and both polishes are pretty dreamy to work with.

For the stamping, I wanted to use a daisy pattern and keep it sort of delicate, so I reached for my BM-XL05 Stamping Plate and chose this really sort of ornate daisy pattern. Since I don't own a rich purple stamping polish, I used Color Club Disco Dress. As you can see, the pick up with this polish was a little bit spotty, but it transferred with good opacity. I wanted to add some bright pops to the nail so I decided on dots at the center of each flower as well as a few scattered in open spaces. For the dots, I used China Glaze That's Shore Bright, Color Club Beach Please, and Color Club East Austin - all of which are neon and pack a good punch (especially in person.)

To finish, I applied a coat of Sinful Colors Matte Top Coat (which is so far the only matte top coat I've tried that doesn't smear my stamping) and voila!
