FEATURED FIVE: Canadian Beauty Brands Part 2

by - July 19, 2019

Hey guys! Honestly, sitting down to put together this week's Part 2 of my Canadian Beauty spotlight, I knew exactly what I wanted to feature. There's so many incredible Canadian brands, from indie to big and mainstream that it would be really easy to do a Part 3 to this post... and now that I'm writing this, I just might! Anyway, if you haven't checked out Part 1, I definitely recommend checking it out.

Without further ado, let's get to the products!

Naked Skincare & Apothecary Radiance Mask
You know those times when you're not... not your best? Like when you're tired and run down and maybe haven't been eating so good and your skin is starting to show it? Those are the times when I reach for this mask. First off, I feel like whipping up my own mask from a clay powder in itself is an act of self care, which is exactly what I need at times that like. But above and beyond that, this mask just... does something. When I rinse it off, my skin looks bright and fresh and feels super smooth without any dryness that I might associate with other types of clay masks. Just make sure you don't remove it with a white washcloth, because it can get a little bit... orange. Seriously, though, I highly recommend checking out Naked Skincare & Apothecary's minimalist, plant based skin care range created right here in Winnipeg!

Huna Apothecary Firming Eye Cream*
Another Winnipeg based brand, Huna Apothecary products are a really incredible intersection of natural, ethically sourced ingredients and scientifically backed formulas. I don't know about you, but that sentence makes ME really happy. By far my favorite product that I've tried from Huna is their Firming Eye Cream, which is just a stunning formula that contains sea kelp, ceramides, cocoa and vegan hyaluronic acid. It's just an absolute stunner, seriously, and kind of brought me back to using eye cream again. It's super lightweight but packs a serious punch of hydration and I really do see a visual difference in the look of the skin around my eyes when I use this eye cream. Seriously, I could pretty much rave about this one for hours, so I highly recommend checking it out! In fact, check out the whole range from Huna Apothecary over at their website!

Annabelle Skinny Brow Liner
After a couple of more independent brands, let's move on to a more mainstream one that can be found in most affordable makeup aisle's in Winnipeg - Annabelle! Honestly, when I sat down to think of what I was going to include in these posts, one of the first products I thought of was the Annabelle Skinny Brow Liner, which has been a staple for me for years now. Seriously, I've been through probably a dozen of these brow pencils. I'd say that as skinny brow pencils go, this formula is a little bit more on the creamy side, which makes it really easy to apply, and it's really easy to just get a really natural, fool looking defined brow using this. I mean, what more can I say? It might not be the sexiest at the party, but it consistently gets the job done for me!

Cuter Cuticles Almond Macaroon Barrier Butter
Cuter Cuticles is definitely newer to me than any of the other products in this post, but I'm a full out believer and I use their cuticle products literally every single day. Literally. In fact... Those ellipses were where I stopped to apply a little bit of the barrier butter that lives about 3 inches from the keyboard that I'm typing this on right now. Honestly, I can't rave enough about just how much consistently using Cuter Cuticles Barrier Butters and Cuticle Oils have improved the look and feel of my cuticles. Also, the variety of fragrances that are available (as well as an Unscented option) means there's literally something for absolutely everyone. If you haven't yet, you should definitely head over to her website to check out Cuter Cuticles!

Live Clean Exotic Silk Keratin Oil Smoothing Shampoo & Conditioner*
Finally, there is literally no way I could get through a feature of Canadian brands without giving a shout to probably one of the brands I use the most across the board in my every day life - Live Clean. Now, I could have mentioned their hand soaps - Vanilla Oatmeal is my favorite from their permanent line - or their body care products, but honestly... It had to be this shampoo & conditioner pair for me. The Exotic Silk Keratin Oil Smoothing Shampoo & Conditioner* are just... absolutely exactly perfect for my hair type and needs and every time I use them, I have an amazing hair day. Period. Seriously, readers of this blog know just how much I love Live Clean products and how much of a staple they are in my house, so I don't think I have to go on and on... I just hope that they never discontinue this pair because it's my Holy Grail.

It occurs to me that I probably should have split these two Canadian Beauty Featured Five posts into Mainstream and Indie, since I have five of both... but that would have taken a little bit more forethought that I had when I was putting these two lists together. Either way, I think there are seriously incredible options from Canadian brands whether we're talking about large scale, mainstream brands that you can find in large stores or the more niche indie brands that I always, always love to feature here on the blog. I highly recommend all of these products, but even more than I that I really hope you guys will take a look at these brands as a whole and put some support behind Canadian businesses!

Thanks so much for reading!
