MANI MONDAY: Canada Day Maple Leaf Nails 2019

by - July 01, 2019

Happy Canada Day!! Honestly, I kind of struggled with this week's mani - both in deciding what to do on my nails to celebrate this Canada Day as well as the actual execution of the nail art. Still, I'm pretty happy with the overall result - especially in person as opposed to really zoomed in photos that show every wobble and smudge. I'm also trying to get this written quite quickly so that I can get out and enjoy the day at a local street festival, so please forgive me if this feels rushed!

Our #CBBxManiMonday theme for July is glitter, which isn't entirely my thing if I'm being honest, so I decided to do a jelly sandwich technique because I love how it looks in red. I started with a coat of Color Club That's My Jam, which is a really, really pretty candy apple red jelly polish. Next, I added a layer of Sinful Colors Decadent, which contains tiny and medium sized pinky-red hex glitters in a clear base (This polish is super handy to have for holiday mani's and is in the permanent collection.) I added one more generous coat of That's My Jam for the sandwich and I felt like it had enough depth that I didn't need to add anymore.

For the stamping, I used Maniology Bam White Stamping Polish along with the BornPrettyStore BPL-026 Stamping Plate. The larger maple leaf image is solo on the plate, but for the two smaller ones I had to go to a larger image and just remove everything else from that image with a lint roller before transferring to the nails.

Now... I probably should have added a coat of Unt Ready For Take Off next, but I was in a hurry and impatient so I just went straight in with a generous coat of Essence The Gel Polish Top Coat and... it smeared my stamping. Sigh! But, I really didn't want to start over and I still think that it looks gorgeous when not zoomed in to 4x the size of my actual hand, so... c'est la vie! (This is definitely more c'est la vie than voila, isn't it?)

As always, don't forget to check out Cosmetic Proof and See The World in PINK for more glittery Canada Day nail art! And to my fellow Canadians, I hope you have a great, safe Canada Day!
