MANI MONDAY: Abstract Fall Neutrals Dry Brush Nails

by - September 16, 2019

Happy Monday! For this week's #CBBxManiMonday Colour Combination Theme, I really, really knew exactly what shades I wanted to pair - and had no idea how to do it. So... I took inspiration from one of my own recently mani's that I really, really loved - my Abstract Dry Brush Nails from last month. And by "took inspiration from", I basically mean that I created the exact same mani with different shades, but I'm really, really happy with how it turned out. And I really, really love the combination of fall neutral shades that makeup the look!

Keep reading for a closer look and to see how I got this look!

For the base, I wanted something that was nude with a subtle shimmer, so I applied three coats of ILNP Birthday Suit for an opaque nude base. The shades I wanted to pair for my "fall neutrals" were mustard, peanut butter, and eggplant (to be really specific) and I decided to also add a really neutral pale bronze shade for some punch. I get that few people would call mustard and eggplant "neutral", but I feel like the tones of the ones I chose really do have an earth feel.

Using my NailStuff.ca Clear Stamper*, I applied swipes of China Glaze Mustard The Courage, Sinful Colors Hot Toffee, Essence Flamingold, and Sinful Colors Nude Mood at the tip of my nail. The trick to this is really to get the swipes how you want them on the stamper before transferring to your nails. I have to admit, my lint roller ended up with a lot of imperfect swipes on it that never made it to the nails. I also added a few dots to each nail using Nude Mood once I was finished applying all of my swipes because I felt like my nails were missing something.

To finish, I added a coat of Essence Extreme Shine Top Coat and... VOILA!

When it comes to the theme of Colour Combinations for this month's #CBBxManiMondays, I feel like this is what I've wanted to put together all along. I love, love, love this combination of colours for fall and I really feel like they suit this mani perfectly. I actually really, really recommend this technique for beginners in nail art because it's really fool proof and (if you want to skip the stamper and do this straight on the nail) you really don't need any special nail art tools. I suspect that like plaid, this technique could become one that I can use for pretty much any occasion.

Don't forget to head over to Cosmetic Proof, See The World In PINK, and Tea & Nail Polish to see what they did with the Colour Combinations theme on their nails this week!
