12 NAILS OF CHRISTMAS: Festive Green Plaid Reindeer Nail Art

by - December 16, 2019

If there was a single nail art style or theme that feels sort of like my signature, it's probably plaid nails. I've loved plaid nails ever since I figured out how to do them and I feel like you can basically work plaid into every occasion. That said, I think Christmas is the perfect time for a plaid mani and I really, really wanted to do one for #12NailsOfChristmas this year. I sort of wracked my brains to think of the perfect design until I got my hands on Dimension Nails Amazonian Manatee*, which is the absolute perfect rich forest green base for a plaid nail. From there, it came together in my head really easily.

Keep reading to see how I got this look!

I started with one coat of Dimension Nails Amazonian Manatee* on all of my nails. YES, ONE COAT AND FULL OPACITY AND INSERT HEART EYES EMOJI HERE. Ahem. Seriously, though, this polish is an absolute dream. You could apply two coats if you want a thicker look on the nail, but it really isn't necessary to get coverage - which is perfect for brevity when it comes to doing nail art.

Once the base was completely dry, I applied cuticle barrier and got to stamping. As always with plaid nails, I used the Harunouta L010 Stamping Plate - available from BornPrettyStore - and started with the thicker, almost buffalo plaid looking image. I had to do a diagonal placement because of my nail length, but I actually really like how that looks. I used BornPrettyStore Black Stamping Polish for this image. Next, I used the much thinner lined plaid image and BornPrettyStore Gold Stamping Polish to all but my ring finger.

For the accent nail, I used the Nicole Diary L10 Stamping Plate to apply the stag head image in the same gold stamping polish. Because this is a two part image and I wanted to center is as well as I could, I used a really clear stamper so that I could really place the images exactly where I wanted them. I thought I was done then, but the nail looked a little bit bare, so I went in with this delicate stitched line image from the Nicole Diary L04 Stamping Plate and crisscrossed it at the tip to add a little bit more interest.

As usual, I finished with a generous coat of Seche Vive Quick Dry Top Coat and voila!

I'm so in love with this mani - it's one that I think is just so incredibly perfect for the holidays and has a somewhat sophisticated feeling to it that I don't normally get from a lot of more busy nail art. I really do think that there's something sophisticated about green polish when it's this rich shade of green and I this the classic vibe of it just really works. I'm kind of in love with this one, so I'll just be over here playing toot toot on my own horn.

Seriously, guys, I can't overstate just how good this polish from Dimension Nails is. Not only is it a shade I feel like I've been looking for forever and never been able to find, but it's such an insanely good formula that I can't say enough good things about it.
