12 NAILS OF CHRISTMAS: Frosty Holo Snowflake Nail Art

by - December 13, 2019

If there's one thing that's become abundantly clear to me over the course of doing these #12NailsOfChristmas, it's that my personal taste for holiday nail art runs much more towards frosty, icy shades of blue and silver than more traditional red and green - although, let's be honest, I like those well enough too. For Day 6 of 12 Nails Of Christmas, I put together these simple frosty snowflake nails with dripping icicles and I think it's a good balance of effort to impact, if I do say so myself.

Keep reading to see how I put this mani together!

I started with two coats of Starrily Etoile*, which is this really soft, icy blue cream with holographic flakes. As beautiful as this polish is on its own, I decided to add a coat of Seche Special Effects Holo Top Coat to just bring a little bit more of that shimmer and rainbow magic to the look. Because you can't have enough rainbow magic, right?

For the stamping, I started by using the Nicole Diary L13 Stamping Plate to add the icicle details at the base of my two middle nails using Born Pretty Store White Stamping Polish. Next, I used the Born Pretty Store Christmas L006 Stamping Plate for the snowflakes. I first applied the full image to my nails using the same white stamping polish I used for the icicles. Next, I went in with Dimension Nails Ethical* to add a couple of random blue snowflakes to my nails for some contrast and definition.

I finished with a generous coat of Seche Vive Quick Dry Top Coat and voila!

I could spend the entire holiday season doing nothing but scattered snowflake manis because I think they always pack a punch of impact and look wintery and festive without being too on-the-nose with the Christmas theme. I also think that they're a great option for beginner stampers because the snowflake images tend to transfer really, really well. I have total heart eyes about snowflake nail art right now, so keep an eye out for more to come!

Also, I'm really, really impressed with the Dimension Nails polish that I used in this mani - and the other two Dimension Nails polishes that NailStuff.ca was so kind to gift me as well. These are SUPER pigmented créme polishes that apply really, really beautifully for one coat coverage and also stamp with surprisingly good pickup and opacity. If you're interested in trying them out, they're available here in Canada from NailStuff.ca and you can use my affiliate code TRYSH to get 10% off your order!
