MANI MONDAY: Easy Pink Flakie Nails for Valentine's Day

by - February 10, 2020

Happy Monday, everyone! I have to admit, I spent pretty much the entire weekend sick in bed alternating between sleeping and reading, so when it came time to do my nails last night I just wasn't quite at all. I didn't have a lot of inspiration or energy to really do anything complicated (and my instinct is to basically kitchen sink my nails as often as possible) so I just kept it simple. That said, I think there's benefit to simplicity and I'm pretty happy with what I threw together, so it's a win win.

Keep reading to check out my nails and see how I did them!

With our #CBBxManiMonday theme this month being pink and red, I rifled through my collection for a while to find a base and ultimately decided to go with one of my favorite pink polishes of all time - essie Gel Couture Moments To Mrs*, which is a soft bubble gum pink jelly shade with pink to gold shifty flakes in it. Insert heart eyes emoji here. I applied two coats to all of my nails and let them dry down until the second coat was almost dry but still tacky.

Next, I reached for the NailStuff.ca Pink Foil Flakes* to create a sort of monochrome look that would have some impact and texture. I used a fluffy brush to apply them to my clear stamper, creating an almost gradient with them because I wanted more density of flakies at the tip. Like I said, while the second coat of my base was still tacky, I transfered the flakes onto the nail using my stamper - easy as pie.

Finally, I finished with a generous coat of Seche Vive Quick Dry Top Coat and, as always, voila!

Like I said, being sick put a bit of a damper on doing complicated nails this week, but ultimately I'm really happy with this mani and think it's a perfect Valentine's Day nail look that isn't too on the nose thematic. I hope you enjoyed this look and if you're interested in trying it out for yourself, feel free to use my affiliate code TRYSH over at NailStuff.ca to pick up some of their foil flakes - they come in a load of different colors and they're amazing for a quick and impactful nail art look that anyone can do.
