REVIEW: VDL Expert Color Lip Cube Marble Glow
Honestly, I like to think that I'm beyond getting excited about packaging and branding and design the way that I used to, but as soon as I had the VDL Expert Color Lip Cube Marble Glow* in my hand, I was smitten. Available from Avon as a part of their partnership with the brands under THEFACESHOP umbrella, this lip balm absolutely wins the award for the prettiest looking lip balm I've ever tried by a mile and I've been testing the formula for a while to see if it lives up to what I had hoped.
Tint. Soften. Shine. Crafted with a cutting-edge cube design, this lip balm delivers the perfect balance of delicate color and lip-softening care. The two-tone marble layers provide precise application while enhancing lips with a natural rosy color. Featuring 80% moisturizing oil that instantly conditions and adds long-lasting shine.
This product is actually available in three different shades and the one I've been trying out is actually Mint Flavor, which is a gorgeous blend of green and yellow in the tube but applies clear. It also has a sweet minty scent that is more like a minty candy than, say, toothpaste, and it has that slight cooling feeling on the lips. Can confirm, it does not actually have a minty flavor. Also available in the collection are Blooming Pink, a marble of two shades of pink, and Blessing Coral, which is a marble of a soft coral and a yellow, and both are said to give you a soft tint to the lips.
As you can see, this has a really interesting shape to it, with a diamond shape at a sharp angle that it intended for easy, precision application. I would definitely say that it lives up to that promise and even if this were one of the tinted options, I wouldn't be at all worried at all about just slapping it on without a mirror.
From the first time I tried this, I absolutely loved the feel of it on the lips. It does have that cooling feeling, which I generally tend to avoid personally these days, but I haven't really noticed any ill effects from it personally in the few weeks that I've been reaching for it daily. The texture is smooth and a waxy enough to stick around on the lips, but not so waxy that it feels heavy or gives the lips a weird look. Actually, on the lips this has a little bit of shine and gives a really healthy, hydrated look.
As lip balms go, this is a bit of a spendier option, but I think it's absolutely gorgeous and I'm loving using it. I would personally really love to try out the tinted shades, because I think they'd be gorgeous for adding a little bit of tint to the lips for every day wear, and with this really hydrating and comfortable formula I know I would really love wearing them.
