MANI MONDAY: Super Cute Strawberry Nails

by - July 27, 2020

Admittedly, I'm not much for cute when it comes to my nails - it's just generally not my thing. That said, sometimes you've just gotta go for it, and for this week's Summer Lingo Fruit themed nails for #CBBxManiMonday, I just embraced the cute and went with it - and got a surprising number of compliments on them at a family gathering. So they may not be entirely my thing, but I'm pretty thrilled with how they turned out and am not really mad that I stepped outside of my comfort zone and into cuteness. Plus, they bring me FIRMLY back to my love for Strawberry Shortcake when I was a kid, which is never a bad thing.

For my base colours, I wanted to start off with a perfect strawberry red and it's ridiculous just how many reds from my collection I tested out before I settled on Color Club Regatta Red, which has enough of that rich berry undertone that it felt just right. Next, I picked a pink to go with it and OPI Rice Rice Baby felt just right, so I went with it and painted my base polishes.

For the stamping, I went with the WhatsUpNails B008 Summer Seeds Stamping Plate, which was pretty brilliantly designed (in my opinion) with two really complimentary strawberry images. For the first and pinkie, I used the larger, full nail strawberry image and filled in the leaves using green stamping polish. This image actually had little circles around the seeds, which are cute but didn't really feel right for me for this mani, so I removed them with a dotting tool before transferring the image to my nails.

For the smaller strawberry images, I filled them with green stamping polish and the same red base polish that I used for my first and pinkie fingers. I considered doing the full image on both of my middle fingers, but I ultimately decided to just do one strawberry on my middle finger - as I tend to do.

Once all of my stamping was transferred, I finished with a generously floated coat of Seche Vive Top Coat and voila!

Head over to @pblnails on Instagram to check out my video tutorial for this mani, especially if you're interested in seeing how I do reverse stamping. It really is the best way to make use of a plate like this one that is filled with fun fruit images.

Cute may not be my thing, but I really am happy with how this mani turned out. Fruit themed nails are super fun and super summery, in my opinion (keep an eye out for another fruit themed mani coming later this week!) and I had fun with them. Also, I have fallen completely in love with WhatsUpNails stamping plates and have every intention of getting more of them into my collection!

Be sure to head over to Cosmetic Proof and See The World In PINK today to check out what they did with the Summer Lingo theme for this week's #CBBxManiMonday!
