NAIL ART: Pastel Rainbow Gradient Easter Egg Nails

by - April 02, 2021

I don't know what it is about spring, but it seems like every year as soon as spring hits I find myself with a renewed desire to do gradients. Although, now that I think about it, it may honestly be because my favorite gradients are in fresh spring shades. For today's Easter mani, I went full out with just straight up pastel candy shades to create a gradient that looks yummy enough to eat and, not going to lie, I'm fairly obsessed with it.

My absolute favorite pastel polishes are the from Color Club. In both regular pastel shades that are super soft and powdery along with the more pastel neon shades that pack some serious pastel punch, my Color Club drawer gets a lot of attention at this time of year. For this gradient, I decided to go with a blue, a purple, a pink, and a peachy coral to build out a sort of pastel rainbow look. I started with one coat of the blue, just because it's the shade closest to my cuticle, and then used a makeup sponge to build up three layers of gradient to get my desired blend and opacity. Seriously, these polishes blend like no other when I use them in gradients - easy peasy and no struggle.

Because I wanted to keep everything about this mani super soft, I decided to do my stamping in white and I grabbed for the Whats Up Nails B017 Stamping Plate for this sort of perfect Easter egg image. As I tend to do whenever possible, I alternated the direction that I placed the image on the nail so that it breaks it up a little bit and gives more of a truly scattered look to the mani.

Once I was happy with my stamping and cleaned up all of my edges, I sealed in the design with a water based top coat and then finished with a quick dry matte top coat to take down the shine and bring on more of that Easter egg vibe. And voila!

I'm obsessed. I very much don't like to toot my own horn - I am Canadian, after all - but I'm just... so completely in love with this mani that I can barely stand it. I just love this soft, fun... fluffy sort of gradient. And also... I 100% want to recreate this gradient with some super cute unicorn stamping because of obvious reasons. Anyway, love it. So proud of myself for this one and no one can take that from me.
