Not too long ago, I was lucky enough to win a gift certificate from Whats Up Nails and you can bet that I was quick like a cat to use it and pick up some of the stuff I'd had my eye on. If you follow the blog here, you'll know that Whats Up Nails stamping products are absolutely some of my favorites and I'm slowly but surely building my collection of their polishes and plates. For today's mani, almost everything I used is from that haul I did and I'm so, so excited about all of the products.

KBShimmer is definitely becoming one of my favorite indie polish brands and as soon as I started seeing swatches of their Enchanted Forest collection, there were two shades that I absolutely had to have and I'd Pick You was one of them. This is described as a pastel orchid base with softly colored flakes that shift leaf green, golden rod, and peach and I have to say that this description is about as bang on as it gets and this polish is just absolutely beautiful.

For this mani, I applied two coats of I'd Pick You to all of my nails and let them dry down completely.

Initially, I had planned on pairing yellow and fuscia together for my stamping, but once I really looked at the polishes all together I decided that using purple would be a little bit more impactful. I chose two of the sort of grungey, textured images for this mani and alternated the colours, direction and placement of them on the nails so that I could really get a varied look to all of the nails. Next, for the flowers, I went with black and chose the images based on what I thought would fit best on each nail to fill without overwhelming and I tried to place them fairly center.

Once I was happy with the design, I sealed it in with water based top coat and then finished with a generous layer of quick dry glossy top coat. And voila!

Can we just take a moment for me to swoon over this base polish? Because, honestly, this baby is STUNNING. The orchid shade is the perfect balance between pink and purple and the contrast of the warmer toned flakes is really pretty without being overwhelming. Just a perfect spring shade that I think with transition really beautifully into summer - definitely keep an eye out for me to use this polish more in the coming months. And also keep an eye out for more of my Whats Up Nails purchases coming up - I've got a lot to play with an a lot of ideas!
