CHRISTMAS NAIL ART: Velvety Green Plaid Merry Christmas Nails
I will fully admit that a lot of my holiday nail art designs lean on snowflakes, but I honestly feel like snowflakes are one of the most versatile design elements for this time of year and I have no shame in finding as many different ways to use them as possible. For today's mani, I knew I wanted to do a rich plaid design and then add some contrast with white Christmasy stamping on top... and, of course, the best white wintery stamping in my opinion is definitely snowflakes, which I think really shine on top of this base.

When I first saw the Sally Hansen Joy Of Colour Collection* for this holiday season, I absolutely did not think that Under The Tree was going to end up being my favorite shade, but I'm always up for a happy surprise. This polish looks very much green in the bottle and also mattified like I did with this mani, but it's actually a rich navy blue jelly base packed with these blue to green shifting shimmers. The formula is absolutely stunning and easy to work with and I'm just completely in love with it. For me, this is really the standout in this collection and I highly recommend grabbing it before it's gone.
For this mani, I applied two coats of Under The Tree* to all of my nails and let them dry down completely.
For the stamping, I knew I wanted to do a diagonal stamping design and I knew that I wanted to keep it tonal and sort of... medium contrast. I also knew I wanted to have a layered plaid design, so I actually used the same image first applied in black stamping polish and then layered in this sort of olive/matcha green shade. I did alternate the direction that I placed the image from the first and second layers of stamping, but I don't really feel like it made that much of a difference. Next, I went in with my snowflakes, applying two to each nail, being mindful of my placement and scale so that I had a really cohesive-but-not-samey look across the whole mani. For my ring finger, I also applied this "Merry Christmas" image to the center of the nail along with two smaller snowflakes at the corners to really drive home the Christmas specific vibe.
Once I was happy with my stamping, I sealed it in with a nail art top coat before following with a matte top coat to take down the shine and give the base polish a really lush, velvety look on the nails. And voila!

I have to say, this might be one of my all time favorite plaid nail designs that I've done here on the blog. I love the way that base polish really gets velvety underneath the stamping and the way the snowflakes and text stamping really vibe with the overall look. I'm just obsessed with it and so, so excited to share it!
