NAIL ART: Nearly Neon Grunge Abstract Floral Nails

by - May 23, 2022

I have to admit, I'm a little all over the place with this week's #CBBxManiMonday - I suspect that I might have used up a lot of my ideas for floral nails last month and now I'm sort of struggling so I sort of recreated an old mani I've done something very similar to once before. I also had a bit of a photo issue as my macro lens broke and the replacement won't be here for a few more days, so the photos are a little bit different this week. With all of that being said, I have a gorgeous color story in this week's mani and I'm super excited to share it!

I couldn't resist picking up Garden Path Lacquer's Good Morning Lollipop 2.0 from April's Polish Pickup because... well, look at it! As soon as I got it in my hands, I couldn't wait to get it onto my nails, but I wasn't really sure how to do it justice. In the end, I decided that since I love these sort of rich turquoise tones paired with bright yellows and cool toned bright pinks that was the color story I was going to go with - which is actually what inspired me to do this version of this particular mani. Obsessed!

To start, I applied two coats of Good Morning Lollipop to all of my nails and let it dry down.

One plate that I personally think is a must have in any collection is Whats Up Nails A020 Floralize Your Texture. With a combination of small texture and botanical images, it is a great plate for building a lot of different layered designs. I decided for this mani that I was going to keep it simple. I started by choosing two of the sort of swipey images - one more of a dry brush while the other is almost like a drip or a splatter. I decided to alternate the placement, applying the dry brush image in pink followed by the splatter image in yellow. Next, I applied a different floral image to each of my nails in black, keeping to the center of the nail and going with images that fit the nail size best.

Once I was happy with my stamping, I sealed it in with a nail art top coat and then finished with a generous layer of quick dry glossy top coat for shine and volume. And voila!

I have to say, I really am happy with how this mani turned out even though it ended up being a little bit more stressful than I might have liked to create it. These colors are hard to stay frustrated in the presence of - though I do very much wish that I had a macro shot of my ring finger because this base polish is stunning in the details. Oh well - soon!
