HALLOWEEN NAIL ART: Black & White Kooky Skulls Nails

by - October 19, 2023

Because my collection of Halloween stamping plates is somewhat ridiculous at this point, I don't order nearly as many as I used to, but of the few that I picked up this year, one had been on my list for AGES and specifically because of the images I used to create this mani. I don't know what it was about these kind of silly skull images from the Uberchic Beauty Halloween 05 Stamping Plate, but I've wanted to create some version of this mani since the first time I saw it and I finally pulled the trigger and ordered it this year!

I went back and forth quite a lot on what I wanted to do with the color story for this mani, but ultimately I decided that the most impactful version of it would definitely be one that really leaned into the crispness of the images and just kept everything clean. I ended up pulling out one of my absolute favorite indie polishes - and one that I do hope ends up being restocked at some point - Dam Nail Polish's Opal. It's just the perfect silvery holo with these really pretty flakes through it and I love it so much.

To start, I applied two coats of Opal to all of my nails and let those dry down.

For the stamping, I decided to do a combination of the regular stamping image and the negative space image in order to get some added visual interest. On my middle finger, I applied the regular stamping image. On my ring finger, I applied the matching negative space image. And on the rest of my nails, I actually chose a single skull from the regular image for each nail and applied them towards the base of the nail and at a slight angle.

Once I was happy with my design, I sealed everything in with a nail art top coat and then finished with a generous layer of glossy top coat for shine and volume. And voila!

I'm not gonna lie, after spending so much time wanting this stamping plate specifically for these images, it would have been really easy to find myself disappointed, but I really, truly wasn't. These images performed beautifully and gave me just the mani I was hoping for!
