Prairie Beauty

I told myself I wasn't going to lean as heavily on snowflakes with this year's holiday nails and yet I can't seem to help myself. I just LOVE snowflake nails. Today's mani is another recreation from holiday season's past, one that I've actually wanted to recreate for the past couple of years but hadn't gotten around to. This year, I changed up the color story pretty significantly using a stunning reflective glitter polish from Whats Up Nails as my base and I am OBSESSED. There's a spot in my house that has the best light for making polish pop and I spent more time standing under that light admiring this mani than I might like to admit.

Some of my favorite nail art designs for the holidays are the ones that don't actually specifically reference any of the solstice adjacent holidays and instead lean all the way in to the winteriness of it all. For today's mani, I decided to take inspiration from a mani that I did a couple of years ago with this really frosty blue gradient and swirling snowflake stamping, but add a little something more for 2022 with some more stamping. I mean... by this point I have embraced my love for the kitchen sink, so no one will be surprised when I decide more is more.

As time goes on, I don't find myself reaching for the older stamping plates in my collection as much as I used to - if at all - but there are a few plates that have specific images that I just absolutely love and will always reach for. The BeautyBigBang XL-030 Stamping Plate has, in my opinion, and absolutely perfect stamping image on it and it's one that I know I could probably use every single year and never repeat the same mani twice, if that makes any sense. Today's mani utilizes that stamping image along with one of my personal favorite techniques for creating a beautiful base to pair with simple stamping.

When it comes to 31 different Halloween nail art designs, there's a fair bit of planning and strategizing involved to actually be able to get it done. One of the steps is going through the different subthemes that live within the overarching Halloween theme - like my personal favorite, Spiderwebs - and on that list is definitely skulls. I think I've done skulls pretty much every year that I've been doing Halloween nails and they're easily some of my favorite designs I've done, so course I was going to do a skulls mani this year. The trick, I think, is to change it up so that you're not doing the same thing every year - even if you, like me, are doing something similar.

Is it weird for me to feel accomplished about having been able to keep an air plant alive for about 3 years now? Because I have and I feel like it's a miracle, even though I feel like I've only been able to do it because that resilient little sucker is pretty impossible to kill. Anyway, all of that is to say that there's a specific reason that I didn't end up naming this mani "Plant Lady Nails" because I feel like succulents are some of the only plants that you don't have to be a plant person to keep alive and this is the way that logic works in my neurodivergent brain hole. Also, this is a weird intro and I feel weird about even posting it.

Let's move onto the nail art, shall we?

I have to admit that today's mani isn't necessarily Me, but it's so adorable that I can't help but love it. Quite recently, I picked up a few new plates from Beauty Big Bang and one of them was this Hello Kitty themed plate that I just couldn't resist. I've been doing more reverse stamping lately and I just, for some reason, couldn't wait to get these images onto my nails.
