IPSY April 2014

by - April 15, 2014

I was actually really excited for this month's IPSY bag after seeing all of the sneak peeks and even though I didn't get exactly what I wanted, I'm actually really happy with what I received. I think I was in the definite minority of people who didn't even want the Benefit Lollitint, so I wasn't the least bit disappointed. Also, I'm glad that everyone received the Urban Decay 24/7 Liner, because it actually feels pretty rare that a universally coveted item like that actually goes out to even the minority.

Let's look at what I got!

IPSY GLAM BAG APRIL 2014

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Black Velvet
Sample Size 0.03oz
I've never actually tried the Urban Decay 24/7 liners before, but I have a feeling they're going to get it done for me and now I'm going to want to go buy a bunch more colours. I'm actually in the minority, I think, in that I rarely wear black eye liner and am much more likely to go with more colourful shades. That said, I think this might entice me to do some more tight lining on days when I don't feel like doing much else - it definitely opens the eyes and gives a more awake appearance without adding much by way of obvious makeup. In case it wasn't clear... This product is definitely a win for me.

Elizabeth Mott pop!goes the shadow in Champagne
Full Size 2g
When I first saw my Glam Room, I was actually really bummed about this. Shimmery nude shades always seems so boring to me and it seems like I have a ridiculous amount of them already. However, this one is actually more of a warm, almost coppery nude that actually feels a little bit more unique to me. (But let's be real, this is brightsides and it's still a shimmery nude.) The pigmentation is beautiful and the texture feels buttery and smooth without any powderiness when I swatch with my fingers. I'm definitely looking forward to working this into a look and seeing how it goes.

MaryKay@Play Jelly Lip Gloss in Teddy Bare
Full Size 9.5ml
Yeah... This was probably the item that I had literally zero interest in when I saw the sneak peeks, so I obviously knew that it was going to be in my bag. And can I just say... Considering the BEAUTY ROCKS! theme of this months bag, I'm really confused as to how this fits. Creamy nude lip gloss from Mary Kay is definitely not rock n roll. That said, my first impression is actually pretty good. It looks nice on my lips (although I feel like it could very easily make a lot of people look distinctly corpselike) and it's actually not really sticky, which is shocking considering how thick it is. I actually think this one might get some use.

Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion Skin Exfoliant
Sample Size .25oz
Must say, this is actually one thing that I really did want. Recently, I've been getting really into skin care and have been on the hunt for those products that I'm going to fall in love with, so I love getting samples of really good products. Considering the cost of the full size, this is actually a pretty generous sample and I figure I can get a few good uses out of it and hopefully really see how it works for me. All in all, this is probably my favorite item in this box.
BigSexyHair Root Pump Volumizing Spray Mousse
Travel Size
I actually really wanted this one as well. I've had surprisingly good luck with hair products that I've gotten in subscription boxes (even found my HG leave in mousse) and so I'm always into trying new styling products. Also, considering that I have poker straight fine hair that tends to just droop, I do love something that's going to give me some lift and life in my hair. Another win.

All in all, I really am very happy with this bag and I'm looking forward to really trying things out. I've been generally really happy with IPSY as long as I've been subscribing, and I'm definitely going to stick with it. And considering it's about $15 a month and I got almost $50 worth of stuff that I'll actually use... Yeah, I'm an IPSY believer.

Also, just to top off this post... I received a package from South Korea that I had been waiting for in the mail yesterday, and I just wanted to share a quick rundown of that as well.

CONTAINS:
Benton Snail Bee High Content Essence
Benton Snail Bee High Content Steam Cream
(2) TonyMoly I'm Real Aqua Moisture Lotion samples
TonyMoly Tea Tree Sebum & Pore Lotion sample
TonyMoly Panda Dream Eye Patch
Etude House Nymph Aura Volumer

I'll keep it brief on this... Since sometime last summer, I've been pretty into trying Korean cosmetics and skin care, and pretty much everything I've tried has been a win. I had been looking at these two Benton products for a while and the internet finally convinced me to invest and I have a feeling I'll be happy that I did. Also, one of the things that I love about getting Korean products is that there's always a generous number of foil packet samples and it seems like there's always some kind of mask, nose pack, or eye pack to try out. Call me geeky, but I always get excited to try out new things and the first time I tried my HG BB Cream (Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream Bright Fit) was in a foil packet... and then I ordered a full size later that day.

All in all, this has already been a good week for PACKAGESSSSSSS!!!!
Gimme more!
