June 2014 Empties

by - July 03, 2014

I actually really love empties posts, they're some of my favorites because I feel like you get a much better review when someone has gone through an entire product. I don't tend to use things up as often as I probably should. Being that I'm a bit of a Goo Hoarder, as it were, I tend to jump between products and rarely get to the bottom of any of them. This month, though, I actually worked through some of my favorites.

1. Fresh Soy Face Cleanser - No repurchase
I've been on the hunt for a really good facial cleanser for a while and I always like to try the smaller sizes first when it comes to skin care. This is a pretty good cleanser, I have no complaints about it. Being that I have pretty dry skin, I have to be careful that I'm not going to use something that's going to dry my skin out and leave me unbalanced. Unbalanced skin, for me, leads to breakouts and a really wonky skin texture. All in all, this cleanser did its job and kept my skin clean and balanced, but I wasn't jumping up and down over it. I think I'm still on the hunt.

2. Boscia Makeup Breakup Cleansing Oil - No repurchase
This cleansing oil does exactly what it's supposed to. I used this to remove all of my makeup at the end of the day and it just broke down everything beautifully and left my skin fresh and really supple. My favorite thing about cleansing oil is that it gets rid of all of my cosmetics without leaving my skin feeling tight. That being said, I don't think that this is my favorite cleansing oil that I've used so I probably won't repurchase anytime soon.

3. Nexxus Color Assure Conditioner - No repurchase
A few months ago, I colored my hair a deep, violet red and I needed something that was going to maintain the vibrancy and keep my hair looking healthy. This is why I bought this conditioner. It's pretty good, all things considered, but again I wasn't jumping down over it. It was really just okay, and for the price point I think I needed a little more moisture to make me repurchase.

4. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Concealer in Brightener 160 - Definite repurchase
I really do love this concealer for brightening my under eyes. The brightener shade doesn't necessarily have the best coverage, but the pink tone to it brings really nice light under my eyes to make me look more awake and alive. Overall, I really like this concealer and it's definitely going on my shopping list to be replaced very soon.

5. The Body Shop Brazil Nut Body Scrub - Definite repurchase
I love this stuff. I love pretty much everything in the Brazil Nut line (except for the dry body oil, which gave me little red spots all over my skin the day after I used it the first time.) The smell is really incredible and I do really love the creaminess of this product in combination with the scrub. The scrub isn't really dense, so it does a good job of scrubbing away dead skin without irritating my skin. I feel like that's a good balance to be struck. Did I mention that the smell makes me feel all kinds of happy all over? Because it does. Mmm, Brazil Nut.
I have so many of these foil packets of face and hair masks and I find that I can't seem to help myself every couple of months when I see the displays. I feel like they're good to have around for pampering and sometimes it's just fun to throw a mask on my face after I've had a long day. SO let's see how the ones I used up this month went.

6. Baléa Oil Removing Mud Face Mask with Tea Tree Oil - No repurchase
I recently tried the Tea Tree mask from The Body Shop and it kicked the ass of this one. This was fine, but I didn't really see the kind of results on my skin the next day that I generally like to see after a mask of this type. I didn't have any adverse reaction to it or anything, it just didn't really do much of anything.

7. Baléa Hydrating Face Mask with Sweet Almond Oil & Vitamin A - Maybe repurchase
I feel like I maybe tried this mask out at the wrong time of year, since I'm not feeling much overall dryness in my skin at the moment. My skin felt pretty nice when I removed it, but I felt like I was a little greasy the next day - which could be all in my head, but I don't know. I think I'll probably want to try this one again when I'm having that tight, itchy dryness that winter always tends to bring. If only because I'm a wee bit obsessed with Sweet Almond Oil lately.

8. Freeman Facial Polishing Mask with Charcoal & Black Sugar - Will repurchase
It was a rave review of this that I saw somewhere a couple of months ago that made me try this and I love it. It's different than the other masks in that it really does feel like a sugar scrub, but you leave it on your face for a few minutes before you massage it in and rinse. My skin felt really, really good after this mask and I feel like the effects lasted a few days. I'm definitely going to pick up a full size of this in the near future, because I feel like it's a really good price point and really effective.

9. Marc Anthony Oil Of Morocco Deep Conditioning Treatment (2) - Definite repurchase
I don't know if you can get a full size of this product, but if I ever see it on a shelf it's going to be coming home with me in a speedy fashion. I love this stuff so much. I like to do a deep conditioning treatment once or twice a week in the shower and this is one of my favorites that I've tried in a really long time. It smells so amazing and my hair just feels and looks gorgeous after this. I recently balayaged my hair and it's been feeling a little bit dry, so I'm already planning to pick up a couple more of these packets - even though I know I should wait until after Sample Killah.

So there you have it, another month and another post where I get to show off my trash. I'm not sure that there'll be an empties post for July, if only because I'm trying so hard to tear through my samples that I don't think I'll make it through much else. BUT keep checking back for my weekly Sample Killah updates, where I'll try to give at least a bit of an impression on the samples that I'm trying to tear through.

XO.
