TAG: Seven Dealy Sins of Beauty

by - July 22, 2014

Okay, so I wasn't actually tagged to do this... but I couldn't resist because I've always wanted to answer TAG questions and this one (which is kinda old, to be honest, but I saw a new video on Youtube recently so I figure it's fair game) is one I always wanted to do. Look for more TAG posts in the future... because at least one person out there seems to say "I'm tagging everyone!" and I believe I fall into that random and perhaps unknown person's "everyone." Also, I tag everyone too!

The questions for the tag are as follows.
Greed: What's your most inexpensive beauty item? What’s your most expensive beauty item?
Wrath: What item do you have a love/hate relationship with?
Gluttony: What brand takes up most of your collection?
Sloth: What product do you neglect the most due to laziness?
Pride: What product gives you the most confidence?
Lust: Which item is top of your beauty wish list?
Envy: Which makeup product/look is great on others but not on you?
Pretty self explanatory, right? Keep reading!

GREED
What's your most inexpensive beauty item?
What's your most expensive beauty item?

INEXPENSIVE: I'm going to go with a product that I am absolutely obsessed with... which I'm pretty sure I paid under $2 for. Might not be my absolute cheapest item, but it's definitely the cheapest item that I use on the day to day. Wet N Wild Color Icon single eye shadow in Creme Brulée. I swear, this stuff is amazing. You can use it as a brow bone highlight, you can use it over your entire lid, you can use it to set your under eyes after concealer, you can even use it as a really subtle highlight on the top of your cheekbones. The texture is gorgeous and smooth and creamy. The pigmentation is amazing. It's just incredible. Everyone needs this in their collection.

EXPENSIVE: Does my Clarisonic count? My Clarisonic is, by far, the most expensive beauty related item I have in my collection and very, very well worth it. I actually don't use it as much as I should and I think I need to get back into using it at least 3 times a week because it always leaves my skin feeling really cleansed and fresh. If we're talking about makeup, I'd probably have to say that it would be my NAKED 2 palette, which retails for around $60CAD. I do like it quite a bit, but I find the shades to be a little too shimmery for everyday use now that I've shifted to preferring more satin or matte eye looks for everyday. Still, it's a good palette with good quality shadows that everyone has, I'm sure, talked to death by now.
WRATH
What item do you have a love/hate relationship with?

Instead of naming one particular item, I'm going to kind of blanket a product... I definitely have a love/hate relationship with lip stains. Whether it be liquid lip stains or the kind that starts off a creamy product, like a jumbo pencil, and leaves behind a stain, I find that I love them at first until they either leave behind a really weird colour on my lips or they just wear off in weird patches that make me look like I'm dying. My kingdom for a lipstain that wears evenly and doesn't make me look like I really messily ate all of the childrens hard candy. Or dipped my lips in popsicles.

GLUTTONY
What brand makes up most of your collection?

I actually can't say that one brand really wins out over the rest, because I have a pretty huge collection that's pretty balanced between brands. Gun to my head, I'd probably say Maybelline, since it's pretty much my #1 drugstore go to. However, if we shift our focus to my nail polish collection there's a definite winner. I have so much Julep polish that I should probably be ashamed of myself. I'm not, but I probably should be. There's definite winners and definite losers in that collection, but damn do those little skinny bottles look pretty displayed on the shelf above my vanity... and anyone who reads this blog knows how I feel about things that look pretty.

SLOTH
What product do you neglect the most due to laziness?

Technically, I'm not going to answer this with a product... if only because I can't actually think of a product that I neglect due to laziness. What I do get too lazy to keep up with though is my eyebrows. I wish that I could be one of those women whose eyebrows are always nicely cleaned up and always on point, but I'm really not. I think I'm kind of lucky in that my eyebrows don't look a Bert from Sesame Street mess when I let them go, but they definitely give a much better frame to my face when I tidy up the edges and try to keep them at least somewhat even. But I'd say I pull out the tweezers maybe once every couple of months when I'm feeling froggy.

PRIDE
What product gives you the most confidence?

Like so many women, I really do love a red lip and feel like it brings out some of my inner power... but the product that actually really gives me confidence is my Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream Bright Fit because I feel like it just makes me look fresh and healthy and even toned even when I'm not wearing any other makeup. I've always felt like any really obvious imperfections or dullness is my skin can be really draining on my confidence, so when I just throw something on to give it a little more something I definitely dwell on my looks less and go about the business of life.

LUST
Which item is top of your beauty wish list?

I have three and I absolutely cannot choose between them... So here goes:

1. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette - Obviously this item got all the love when it came out limited edition for last holiday season and now that Hourglass brought it back I feel like I absolutely have to have it. I'm already begging friends and family for Sephora gift cards for my birthday, since it's hard to justify buying this without it being technically a gift. It's gorgeous though and I really want it in my life.

2. Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation - I got a little sample of this with a Sephora order once upon a time and I genuinely thought that I would hate it... but I tried it anyway. And about 8 hours later when I looked at my skin and it literally looked porcelain flawless I decided I had to have this in my life. I figure that since I'm definitely getting my dryness handled lately I could probably get away with using this fairly regularly. That said, this is $64 a bottle and it makes me a little verclempt to think about paying that much for foundation. But it will be mine. Oh yes, it will be mine.

3. NUDE SKINCARE ProGenius Treatment Oil - I recieved this in a Sephora Favorites Beauty Oils pack and I kinda didn't really have any interest in it until I started using it regularly for Sample Killah. And my skin is literally looking better than it has in my entire adult life. Truth being told, I wasn't very good to my skin for a fairly long time so my skin has some issues now that I am taking care of it, but I feel like this stuff is literally healing my skin and just absolutely bringing it to life. At $94 for 1oz of product, I think I'll have shaky hands when I buy it... but I'm going to buy it when my sample runs out because I feel like this is a true game changing, holy grail type of product.

ENVY
Which products look great on others but not on you?

I feel like a charcoal type smoke eye looks so beautiful on so many people and I've always wanted to make it look good on me... and it just doesn't. I end up looking like I'm wearing a goth costume no matter what I do or how many different tricks I try to make it look good. Of course, since this is such an iconic eye look, I want desperately to make it work, but it seems like I'm going to have to stick with a warmer or somewhat brighter smoky eye if I'm going to do it at all. Sigh. Lucky bitches with your smoky eye perfection.

SO there you have it... My answers to a 2 year old tag! I roll old school. Or something.

XO.
