REVIEW: Ours 3-in-1 Cleansing Oil
I gotta say... I love cleansing oil. The first one I ever used was by Julep and I've been hooked ever since. Unfortunately, none of the cleansing oils that I've used since I finished my first bottle of the Julep one have lived up to that one. When I first saw this line at Rexall, I was intrigued but I hadn't really heard much about it so I wasn't sure what the buzz was. I do like the claims of it being safe, healthy, and honest, which was probably what drew me in. Since I'm constantly on the hunt for a drugstore cleansing oil that I can find conveniently find locally, I decided that this was the product that I wanted to try out first from this line. So, did it stand up to my holy grail?

From Ours by Cheryl Hickey:
A delicate cleansing oil designed to purify and cleanse face and body. As a face wash, it will strip away dirt and make up from the face. As a shave oil, it will soften the beard and prepare the skin for a soothing, close shave. As a body wash, it will help to moisturize and hydrate skin as it cleanses.
The first and most glaring thing that I want to mention has nothing to do with the actual product itself, but instead with the packaging. This is the first cleansing oil that I've tried that hasn't had a pump... and it has officially convinced me that every cleansing oil needs to be packaged with a pump. Having to pour this out of the bottle makes it, first, incredibly difficult to control the amount of product that you're dispensing, and also makes it messy. No matter how careful I am, I keep finding oil all over the shelf that this lives on. Not gonna lie, that mess alone makes me crazy, but I also generally end up with too much in my hand, which makes it more difficult to use.
Yeah, but what about the product inside, you ask? I would say that this cleansing oil is perfectly fine. It's a very thin consistency, a little thinner than I might prefer, but still fairly effective. Generally, when I use a cleansing oil I'll smooth it onto my face, rub it in to break up all the makeup, and then I add some water to emulsify the product so that it turns to a kind of milky consistency. It's that final step that decides for me, really, whether I like a cleansing oil or not. There's something about the feel of different cleansing oils when they're emulsified and that feel can make or break it for me. This one, I have to say, doesn't do it for me. There's something that I can't really describe about that feeling that I just don't like.
As to removing my makeup, I find that I do have to use an additional eye makeup remover, particularly if I'm wearing waterproof mascara. I have to say, that's a bit of a let down for me as well. Generally, one of my favourite things about a good cleansing oil is that is breaks up literally everything. This one doesn't do that. It does leave my skin feeling clean without any tightness and I do feel that it does a pretty good job of taking off the rest of my face makeup, but it doesn't cut through everything.
So, I guess, overall I would say that this product is fine, but not anything to write home about. I am, however, still interested in trying more products from the line and will likely try a few more things in the future.
