MONTHLY FAVORITES: June 2015

by - July 06, 2015

Isn't that picture colourful? It was unintentional, but I feel like that picture kind of captures the bright energy of June. Is that just me? Anyway, June was a pretty crazy month and I can't believe how quickly it passed, amidst a whole lot of busy, a dash of incredible sadness, some distinct joy, and a lot of emotions. Oh, yeah, and a lot of makeup! I feel like I've really been having a little extra fun with my makeup lately, trying out some new things and experimenting, but for my favorites this month I really stuck with the some serious staples from my collection - most of which you've seen me mention before!

Anyway, if you'd like to take a closer look at what I've been loving this month, just keep reading!

1. Sun Bum Continuous Spray Sunscreen SPF 50
I actually picked this up because I figured an easy spray would be the best way to get my boyfriend to wear sunscreen, but I've been using it as well and I really love it. It does a great job of sun protection, it's really easy to apply (although I like to spray it into my hands and rub it on so it doesn't go rogue), and it smells really, really good. I also love how it leaves my skin feeling without any white residue. I just really like it.

2. Bath & Body Works Aromatherapy Stress Relief Vanilla Verbena Body Wash
I picked this up during the Semi-Annual sale, so I'm not actually sure if this is regularly available... but it's just so good. I've been really loving the B&BW Aromatherapy line lately and this is no exception. I really feel like the scent does help to relax me, but without making me feel sleepy, and the formula does a good job of cleaning my body and leaving my skin soft with a somewhat lingering fragrance.

3. Bath & Body Works Waikiki Beach Coconut Aloe Gel Lotion
This is another Semi-Annual Sale purchase from their summer collection. I had originally grabbed a smaller size of this in another scent on a previous shopping trip and loved the formula so much that I had to grab another one in the full size. This lotion is so light and sinks into the skin so easily that it's great for on the go (like at the beach!) and I lovelovelove these kinds of scents for summer days!

4. VICHY Idéalia Life Serum & VICHY Idéalia Skin Sleep
You might remember my review of these products from the middle of June, and I'm happy to report that I'm still loving both of these products and using them regularly. I try to limit myself to using the Skin Sleep only a couple of times a week, but I do feel like it would be light enough to use every night but with enough punch to get it done. The serum is great All. The. Time. I personally like it as a morning serum, because I feel like it gives some brightness to my skin under my makeup. Overall, I really, really highly recommend both of these products!

5. THEFACESHOP LOVELY ME:EX Pastel Cushion Blusher in 02 Coral Cushion
This name might be a little bit misleading, since cushion products that contain liquids or creams in a sponge are so popular right now. This is not one of those. This is a gorgeous powder blush that is more peach than coral and looks absolutely gorgeous on pale skin with a softly bronzed up look. I've really been reaching for this blush a lot in the last month and probably will keep reaching for it for the rest of the summer. Also, I kind of want to pick up the rest of these blushes... there's a lavender shade calling my name!

6. tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush in Magic
I'm pretty sure this was a limited edition shade, which I hate to mention, but it's just so great and has been on my cheeks so much this month that I couldn't resist - plus, this post seems to be teeming with limited edition products. This blush is a beautiful, coral pink shade that looks really vibrant and healthy on the cheeks. This is really another shade that looks great with a bronzed up complexion. And, as we already know, the wear time on these Amazonian Clay blushes is seriously great!

7. Hard Candy Fast & Fabulous Makeup Setting Spray (Review)
When it comes to summer, I'm all about setting my makeup to try and make sure it lasts all day. This has been a particularly hot month here in Winnipeg and this has really been doing the trick to keep my makeup in place without budging. Also, this is an incredibly affordable option as far as setting sprays go and it gets the job done. Though it does contain alcohol, I don't find that it dries my skin out at all, so I'm more than happy to use it regularly.

8. CoverGirl Ready Set Gorgeous Foundation in shade 115 (Review)
This is my second tube of this foundation and I've found myself reaching for it pretty consistently this summer. I find that this gives me great coverage, even with a light layer, and has really great lasting power on my skin. Weirdly enough, I find that this looks great when I first apply it, but even better after several hours of wear. If you haven't tried this foundation yet, I don't know what you're waiting for! It's one of the most affordable in the drugstore and might be my favorite.

9. NYX Micro Brow Pencil in Taupe (Review)
I have been reaching for this brow pencil almost every day since I bought it. It's just... so good! Like I said in my review, it doesn't quite reach dupe status of the almost perfect Anastasia Brow Wiz, but it's the closest I've managed to find and I think it gets the job done pretty damn well. I picked this up in a second, slightly darker shade over the weekend because it's just really good and a great price. As far as I'm concerned, this is the best brow pencil I've found in the drugstore.

NON-BEAUTY FAVORITES

My New Sunglasses!
I picked up these JOE Fresh sunglasses at Superstore for about $12 and I absolutely love them. I've always wanted aviators, but could never find a shape that really suited my face, but these ones have very round lenses that are both very comfortable and also really suit my face. I love the mirrored lenses, which have a really pretty blue/purple reflect on them. I just really, really love these and had to mention them!

Starbucks Cinnamon Roll Frappucino
You guys. Seriously, I'm eager to enjoy everything that is cinnamon roll flavored - even though it's a pretty rare occasion that I really enjoy an actual cinnamon roll. I know, it's weird. Anyway, as soon as I heard about the 6 new flavors that Starbucks was launching, I was IN. Cinnamon Roll? YASSSS. Seriously. Gimme. It's so good. I want to enjoy this little beverage pretty much constantly. And I could go on forever, but I won't!

Big Bang - We Like 2 Party
Admittedly, I found this too poppy and cutesy the first time I listened to it... But then I saw the video and I somehow got the whole vibe of it. This is a really lighthearted summer song and I think it's so cute and I love listening to it because it just... chills me out and makes me feel happy. It's not ground breaking, but there's something incredibly enjoyable about it. Also, I love that Big Bang is releasing new songs every month... really gives me something to look forward to!

So there you have it - Another month, another batch of empties!

I'd love to hear what you've been loving this month or your thoughts about any of the things I mentioned above! Thanks for reading!
