Prairie Beauty

Hey guys! I've got something a little bit different for you guys here on the blog today, but I'm actually really excited about it. You probably don't know this about me - because how would you? - but I love socks with cute patterns on them. I don't know what it is, but most of my wardrobe is really simple and I'm not really a print kind of a person anywhere other than my socks. Recently, I was given a chance to try out a brand called Dead Soxy and I was super excited about it because when I checked out their website I found that the patterns were fun but really wearable.

For more about my experience with Dead Soxy socks, keep reading!

You guys know that I love a subscription service. I've mentioned quite a few here on the blog, but I'm always interested in trying out new ones. I swear, if it was in the budget, I'd be subscribed to so many it would be ridiculous. Anyway, recently I got the opportunity to try out the Canadian watch subscription service called Monthly Watch Club*, which I was super excited about because I love finding Canadian subscription services.

I was 15 when I first got glasses - and it was quite an ordeal. My dad didn't want me to get expensive glasses because I was very likely to lose or break them fairly quickly, so the choices of frames were slim. Also, at that age I felt like A) my glasses had to be very, very cool, and B) I had the biggest head of life and every pair I tried on just highlighted and underscored the giantness of my head. It's really an amazing thing to behold in retrospect, the mind of a teenage girl! Anyway, I ended up getting two pairs on some kind of two-for-cheap deal, which I loved at the time and am vaguely amused by now, and wore them until I absolutely needed a new prescription because glasses were expensive!

Now, fast forward to the time of the internet! I still wear glasses, my prescription is a little heavier and I have astigmatism now, but now I have a surprising number of glasses in my collection so that I can pair my glasses with my outfit and my mood. (Does anyone else do this?) Recently, I got the chance to try out a pair from Firmoo.com for review and I'm really excited to tell you about them!

As the summer is coming to a close, I realize that I haven't put much of a spotlight on my non-beauty favorites for the past few months. There's definitely a lot of things I've been loving this summer! I just picked a random selection of TV shows and entertainment in general, some snacks and beverages, and a couple of accessories that really jumped out at me while I was thinking about what I've been loving this summer. I'm not sure that this type of post will be a regular occurrence, but I liked the idea of it so I figured I'd put it out there.

If you're interested in seeing what I've been loving - and I think you should be, because I feel like I have some really good recommendations - keep reading!

Isn't that picture colourful? It was unintentional, but I feel like that picture kind of captures the bright energy of June. Is that just me? Anyway, June was a pretty crazy month and I can't believe how quickly it passed, amidst a whole lot of busy, a dash of incredible sadness, some distinct joy, and a lot of emotions. Oh, yeah, and a lot of makeup! I feel like I've really been having a little extra fun with my makeup lately, trying out some new things and experimenting, but for my favorites this month I really stuck with the some serious staples from my collection - most of which you've seen me mention before!

Anyway, if you'd like to take a closer look at what I've been loving this month, just keep reading!

So... To be entirely cliché... Can you believe we're already two months gone in 2015? I can't. I'm pretty much floored by this and when I think about it, I end up thinking too much about aging and time passing quickly and how it's going to be no time until I am an old lady. Yes, I have anxiety. And yes, this time of year seems to be particularly flooring on the anxiety front. Anyway. At least February is a short month, and therefore it's supposed to pass more quickly than other months. AND I WILL BE YOUNG FOREVER. Ahem.

When I put together my monthly favorites, I don't think too hard about it. I go with my gut on the things that I just instinctively feel are my favorites of the month. This month happened to feel very thematic when I came out the end of it. The theme, you ask? MOISTURE. I swear, this month has been the absolute worst as far as dry skin and hair and I've been slathering myself up with everything I can find to try and combat that, and I've found that there are definitely some very solid products that take care of this for me.

Without further adieu (and neuroses... because HOLY on that first paragraph!)... Keep reading for a look at my February Favorites.

While I was thinking about doing a Christmas wishlist for this year, I decided that I wanted to branch out from beauty gifts into other ideas. It started with a few books that I'd love to find under the tree this year and it went from there. I mean, even beauty lovers are going to want other things, right? Granted, it's not necessarily as easy for me to make an online wishlist for non-beauty items as it is for makeup-and-skincare-and-haircare- oh-my! but it's doable and I'm sure that a lot of the people in my life would rather get me other things this year since my collection is generally insane.

So keep reading for my picks for great non-beauty-related gifts for this holiday season!
