SPOTLIGHT: Canadian Beauty Brands

by - July 01, 2015

Happy Canada Day, everyone! As a born-and-raised Canadian woman, I feel like I have an ingrained pride and appreciation for all things Canadian. I feel like our national pride might be a little quieter than some other places at times, but it's still deeply ingrained and approached with a lot of warmth. Because of my deep rooted Canadian love, I really wanted to take a moment to bring attention to a few of my favorite Canadian beauty brands this Canada Day. Some of these brands are a little hard to find outside of Canada, but others are gaining real attention and notice in a more International fashion - which is what us Canadians really like to hear.

Anyway, keep reading to take a look at some of my favorite brands as well as some product recommendations from each!

When I was thinking about which brands to really focus on in this post, BITE Beauty was the first one to pop into my head and there was no question that it would be my first mention here. BITE is becoming a really popular brand in the makeup world - no doubt due to the uniqueness of the fact that all of their products are certified food grade as well as the amazing quality of literally everything that they do. BITE Beauty started out in Toronto and has branched out to have incredible success internationally!

Product Recommendations: Luminous Créme Lipstick in Retsina (pictured), High Intensity Lip Pencil in Rhubarb

Annabelle is by far the most widely available (in Canada, at least) brand on this list. You can find Annabelle products pretty much everywhere in Canada that sells other drugstore brands like Maybelline and L'Oreal. Admittedly, I haven't tried as wide a selection from Annabelle as I'd like, but I definitely have a few favorites from the brand that I can and do highly recommend! I love this bronzer for all over bronzing, including body bronzing since it's MASSIVE!
Product Recommendations: Biggy Bronzer Matte (pictured), Twist Up Retractable Lipstick Crayon in Royal

If you've been reading this blog for any period of time, you know that one of my all time favorite eyeshadow palettes is the (unfortunately) Limited Edition Vintage Escapes palette. If you can still track it down anywhere, I highly recommend you pick it up and bask in the gorgeousness of it this fall. If you can't get your hands on it, I would also recommend trying their swimmables waterproof blush or bronzer!
Product Recommendations: Swimmables Bronzer (pictured), Swimmables Blush in Bali, Vintage Escapes Palette (if you can find it, get it!)

This is a new brand to me that I've only recently discovered. The brand is based in Saskatoon, SK, which to me somehow makes it just a little bit extra Canadian, and they have a great selection of makeup products that have a focus on high quality ingredients and performance. These aren't as widely available as the other brands on this list, but you can shop their website as well as any of the salons and spas they have listed!
Product Recommendations: High Shine Lip Polish in Vital (pictured), Silky Eyeshadow Combo in Mild

Lise Watier is one of those brands that, to me, feels like it's just known everywhere even though I'm pretty sure it's not sold in stores outside of Canada. Easily picked up at a lot of Shoppers Drug Mart locations, Lise Watier products are absolutely beautiful - if you ask me. Everything I've tried from the brand has been really high quality and quite beautiful.

Product Recommendations: Palette Rivages Eyeshadows (pictured), Ombre Soufflé Supreme in Sortilege

There really are so many more great Canadian beauty brands that I would have liked to have featured here, but I really wanted to focus on 5 of my favorites and the ones whose products are currently in my collection and getting a lot of use.

I'd love to hear what your favorite Canadian brands are as well as your favorite products from the ones I've listed here!

Thanks for reading and, once again, Happy Canada Day!
