Prairie Beauty

Over the summer I really, really fell in love with Bio Sculpture's Live Life Loudly Collection and regular readers would have seen those neon polishes pop up several times, so of course I was excited to see what would come next for the brand. Color me even more surprised and incredibly excited when they announced that their fall collection would be in celebration of their 25th Anniversary and it would be an entire collection dedicated to the beauty of Canada. Absolutely could not wait to try out the brand spankin' Bio Sculpture Pride Of Nature Collection for Fall 2022* and share it with you all. It really, really is right up my alley in all the best ways!

I, like so many other people over the course of the last couple of years living in a pandemic, have recently gotten super into playing around in the world of fragrance. I've actually been meaning to feature more fragrance here on the blog but hadn't gotten around to it until a brand new Canadian fragrance house called FOOPE Fragrances reached out to me and asked if I'd like to try out their three brand spankin' new fragrances. Of course I was absolutely dying to give them a sniff and a test and share them with you guys - just in time for their launch!

Hey guys! It's been a while since I've done a straight up skin care review - I'm working on getting back into the beauty swing, but this year and my brain's way of managing it are making it a bit of a struggle. That said, I've been testing out a bunch of products from Clayton Shagal and I've finally gotten my thoughts together enough to put together my review - a little later than I intended, but I've definitely given these a thorough test!

Is anyone else already fully in Christmas brain? I feel like it's because Christmas is going to be so profoundly different this year that I'm determined to make it full time Christmas through the entire month of December (and may have already started indulging in the egg nog...) Anyway, because I'm already preoccupied with Christmas, and by extension, Christmas Nail Art, this month has been a little bit tricky in my brain. BUT I managed to keep it cozy and wintery without meandering into Christmas territory, I think, with this week's Whatever November #CBBxManiMonday!

I am SO EXCITED for today's review, you guys. For the past couple of months I've been using these three products from Apothekari Skin Care - you may recall I reviewed a couple of their Body Care products a while back - and they have been so incredible that I can't wait to share them. Not only have I seen incredible results personally with these products, but they're very much backed up by solid science - this is a brand that was started by a Pharmacist who really cares about formulating products that are effective, transparent and safe, and you really, really can see that ethos when you look at the ingredients in these formulas.

I try not to go crazy with indie polishes. Sometimes that's a really difficult thing to do because... they're so gorgeous, but I try to reign myself in and keep my collection at a manageable level. But sometimes? Sometimes I see a swatch of an indie polish and I get gimmegimmegimme hands that just won't shut up and I have to have it. (How's that for a weird sentence?) Anyway, I recently saw swatches of Paint It Pretty Polish's Rainbow Clouds from their new collection and I had to have it. Just had to. There was something about it that absolutely called to me. I didn't actually know how the application was going to go or how the formula would perform since this was my first polish from Paint It Pretty, so I decided to share it with you guys today - with a little bit of stamping because I'm a fiend.

More and more, I've been thinking - as a lot of us have - that I want to use the platform I've built here on the blog to promote amazing products from independent BIPOC and women owned brands, but what I've discovered is that it can be hard to find stockists here in Canada. Recently, I tweeted something to that effect and I was contacted by the owner of Apothekari Skincare and was immediately intrigued. I was lucky enough to be sent along some of her products to try out and, while I'm still in the testing phases of the skin care products, I wanted to share these two body care products that I've been testing out for the past few weeks!

Hi guys! In case it isn't painfully obvious based on how much skin care content I've been putting out recently, I've been on a huge skin care kick recently. After about 6 weeks of being sick this spring and putting my skin care routine firmly on the backburner as a result, my skin was a bit of a mess and I really needed to kick back into high gear. One of the products that I decided to test during this period is the Flawless By Friday Exfoliating Booster Serum. I've sort of been peripherally aware of Canadian brand Flawless By Friday for a while now, but this is the first product I've used from the brand and I was super, super excited to give it a go.

Hey guys! Honestly, sitting down to put together this week's Part 2 of my Canadian Beauty spotlight, I knew exactly what I wanted to feature. There's so many incredible Canadian brands, from indie to big and mainstream that it would be really easy to do a Part 3 to this post... and now that I'm writing this, I just might! Anyway, if you haven't checked out Part 1, I definitely recommend checking it out.

Without further ado, let's get to the products!

Hey guys! With it being July, the Canadian Beauty Bloggers Network is featuring Canadian brands all month and I wanted to play too. There are so many Canadian brands that I love in my collection, from bigger, widely available brands to more indie type brands, and I really couldn't narrow it down to just five... so I decided to do two Featured Five posts highlighting five products from Canadian brands that get a lot of love in my collection and that I really think are worth checking out!

Cuter Cuticles is one of those indie brands that I'd been hearing absolute raves about for ages now and always intended on ordering from, but just hadn't gotten around to it. At the end of 2018, I was talking to a friend about how much I wanted to try out the brand and she passed along a Barrier Butter that just hadn't worked out for her - lucky for me! Honestly, you guys, this was basically an instant obsession for me and when that little tub started to run out recently, I knew I had to make an order and re-up because I didn't want to be out. So... I went in on an order with a couple of family members and I wanted to show you what I got and tell you a little bit about the formulas - and why I'm already planning my next order!

Hey guys! I'm super excited about today's review and I've really been looking forward to sharing these products with you ever since basically the first time I tried them. I've turned into such a skin care geek over the course of running this blog and I'm always super excited to get a chance to try out new skin care ranges and see what I think of them. I got the opportunity to try out the Mériance Collagene Anti-Aging Skin Care Kit* a couple of months ago and I've really been giving it a solid try and getting a good handle on the products. Mériance is a Canadian brand out of Quebec with a strong focus on using high quality, science backed ingredients.

Regular readers might remember that last year I got the chance to try out some skin care products from Rocky Mountain Soap Company - and promptly fell so in love with one of them that I was literally raving about it to anyone who would listen and I picked up a couple to include with Christmas gifts over the holidays. Because of that, I was obviously really excited to get the chance to try out a couple more products from the company and pretty stoked to see that both of these are pretty unique, in my opinion.

Hey guys! I've got something a little different for you guys today - but I thought it was pretty interesting. When I met my boyfriend, he had a bottle of shampoo and a bar of soap in his shower and that's all he used from head to toe. Slowly, I've been working more products into his routine, from hair and body products to skin care, and I can see that he's really cultivating what he enjoys using and thinking of self care in a different way these days. Recently, I got the chance to try out the Wise Men's Care Introductory Bundle* and of course I passed the products along to him to test out.

I love trying out new foundations, I really do. I feel like I have to have several different foundations in my collection so that I have different levels of coverage and types of finish for various looks. Of course, whenever I get the chance to try out a new foundation I'm all in to test it. For the past couple of weeks, I've been testing out the Maison Jacynthe Fluid De Teint*. Not familiar with Maison Jacynthe? The Canadian skin care and makeup brand that was started by actress Jacynthe Renè that focuses on all natural formulas. I've tried some products from the brand in the past, so I was pretty excited to try out the foundation.

More and more, I've been realizing how much better I feel when I'm hydrated head to toe. I've always been pretty good about keeping my face hydrated, but when it came to my body I would usually wait until I got uncomfortably dry before doing anything. I've definitely learned my lesson on that point and have become a lot more consistent in taking care of the skin on my body as well as my face. Recently, I've been trying out the Karen Dermo Cosmetic Phytoplankton Moisturizing Lotion*, which can be used for face, hands, and body.

So obviously my obsession with using acids as a part of my skin care routine is pretty clear if you've ever read one of my skin care posts. Since I've been using hydroxy acids as a part of my daily skin care routine I've really seen overall improvement in the both the appearance and behavior of my skin. So you know that as soon as I saw a social media post that alerted me of The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution, I was all over the website and putting in my order. I mean, obviously...

Let's talk about it, shall we?

I absolutely love getting the chance to try out indie brands, but I often find that there's so much to wade through that it can be difficult to know what to order. This is actually why I love getting the opportunity to try out and review products from indie brands. Recently, I had the opportunity to try out some skin care products from Naked Kitty Naturals, a brand out of Saskatchewan - Prairie's represent! - that's "committed to creating safe personal and skincare products using non-toxic, natural, and organic-where-possible ingredients" and I'm really excited to share them with you guys today!
