FAVORITES: September 2015
This was a bit of a rough month... which has probably been clear from the lack of consistent posting here on my part. I'm resolved to get back to posting at least 4 times a week starting from right now, but we'll see how that goes. Like I said... Rough month. Anyway, because it was kind of a rough month I tended to be pretty regimented with what I was reaching for every day, because it was just easier to go with the same stuff over and over rather than changing it up too much. As such, I've got a good selection of favorites this months, many of which are holy grail status or old stand by's. I have a couple of new finds that I'm absolutely loving as well, so I think it's a pretty good mix.
Keep reading to take a look at my favorites!
1. Benefit Gimme Brow
This is an old favorite and what I reach for when I just don't have it in me to do a full brow routine. It's easy and gives me really natural looking brows that are a little more filled in and defined than my natural brows without having to do much work. I have several brow gels that I love, and in fact a few that I tend to reach for more often than this one, but it definitely won the month and got used really consistently in September.
2. Smashbox 24 Hour Photo Finish Shadow Primer (Mini Review)
Holy. Grail. I swear, I've never enjoyed a lid primer as much as I enjoy this one. It's basically like glue for my shadows, but it allows them to blend really nicely as well. I honestly don't know what else to say. I used this almost every day since I got it and when this deluxe size runs out (which will be soon) I have every intention of heading out to Sephora and grabbing a full size immediately. Holy grail.
3. My Wet N Wild & NYX Z Palette (Here)
I hadn't actually reached for my Z Palette in a long time, opting instead for higher end palettes a lot of the time, but when I pulled it out a few weeks ago and started using it again I remembered just how incredible all of these shadows are. I wish Wet N Wild and NYX still had the quality of shadows that are in this palette, but particularly NYX has really been letting me down. Anyway, after I grabbed for this again I found myself grabbing for it almost every day because it's everything I need for every fall look I could want. Gorgeous!
4. Essence Lip Liner in Satin Mauve (Review)
It's been all about Mauve lips this month (and really, most of this year) and every time I want a really crisp lip line with a mauve lip this is what I reach for. I particularly love using this with the Sephora Cream Lip Stain (below) because it gives a really perfected look to the lips that lasts for ages. Seriously, if you haven't tried the Essence Lip Liners yet, you need to get on it. They're incredible and dirt cheap!
5. Laura Gellar Blush & Brighten in Sateen Subtle Berry
This is a new product in my collection that I managed to find at Winners for a shocking $5.99 and I'm absolutely in love with it. Though it looks quite bronzey in the pan, it actually gives a warm mauve sheen to the cheeks that I think is absolutely perfect for fall and I'm in love with it. This has definitely inspired me to look into getting some more Laura Gellar in my life... because damn.
6. Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Marvelous Mauve (Review)
I think this could be my absolutely perfect lip product of the moment and will definitely be a long time staple in my collection. I absolutely love the slightly deeper your-lips-but-better shade and the formula is about as good as I've found when it comes to liquid lipsticks. I can't say enough good things about this product, I sincerely can't. Buy it!
7. L'Oreal Professional Mythic Oil Masque
I've mentioned before here on the blog that this is my absolute favorite hair mask and it still holds true. From the scent to the absolutely beautiful texture that it gives me hair, this is absolutely perfect for my hair type. It's deeply moisturizing but it doesn't leave behind anything heavy in my hair, rinsing completely clean. This is a lot spendier than the other hair masks that L'Oreal does, but it's by far the absolute best.
8. 100% Pure Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream (Unboxing)
This Birchbox find was not one that I thought was going to stand out all that much for me, but I'm pretty much in love with it at this point. I find that a lot of eye creams will help to give me moisture but don't really stand out among the rest. This one, for whatever reason, stands out. I'm finding that my undereyes are looking more plump and are definitely holding concealer a lot better than before. When I get through this tube, I feel like it's going to be a repurchase.
9. Clearasil Refreshing Superfruit Pads
I decided to try these out because I remember Caroline Hirons talking about them, but I hadn't ever been able to find these particular ones in the drugstore. When I found a tub of them at Winners, I snapped them up and after using them for about 3 weeks I'm ready to scour the internet to find more so that I have a backup. These are improving my skin SO MUCH. I've been using them every second night as part of my nighttime skin care routine and they're making a world of difference. My pores are less clogged, the texture of my skin looks infinitely better, and I'm getting a lot less active breakouts. Hugely successful product for me!
10. Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Skin Therapy Cleansing Oil FACE (Review)
I love cleansing oil, I really do, and I'm definitely still really enjoying this one. It has a heavier texture than a lot of other oils that I've tried, but I love the feel of it on my skin and do still find that it rinses away cleanly. It's just good and (if you're not entirely averse to the scent of rose) I would recommend giving this a try since it's such an affordable and accessible option!
So there you have it, guys, another month gone and another group of products that have really stood out for me this month. Thanks for reading!
