SUBSCRIPTION: Ipsy Glambag October 2015

by - October 16, 2015

Honestly, unboxings are some of my favorite posts to write because I always get so excited about getting my subscriptions in the mail... and then I'm either excited about what's inside or disappointed. As you know if you read my spoilers posts, I never wait to see what's going to be in my Ipsy bag because I just don't have the patience for that and I'm just not that big on surprises. I want to know what's coming and be able to build up that excitement... or avoid getting excited if it's going to suck. Anyway, I knew what I was going to be getting this month, but I don't necessarily feel about it now how I felt about it when I got spoiled.

Keep reading to take a look at my bag!

Beauty Without Cruelty Premium Botanical Lotion
2oz Deluxe Sample - Value $2.17
This lotion moisturizes, softens, and protects your skin. Shea butter, jojoba and kukui nut oil combined with aloe vera soothe and replenish your skin to keep it looking youthful & vibrant.

Meh. I think I'll probably give this to my boyfriend because he always needs lotion that doesn't smell girlie and I don't really love lotion that is fragrance free. Maybe it's just me, but I like to bring scent to my skin while I'm bringing moisture and I get weirdly squicked by fragrance free products. This would be great for someone with scent sensitivity though.

LAVANILA Pure Vanilla Rollerball Fragrance
5ml Sample Size - Value $12.22
PURE VANILLA; The perfect vanilla, this sexy blend of pure Madagascar vanilla, sheer freesia and creamy tonka bean is seductive and magnetic. A grown up expression of vanilla, this fragrance is more vanilla bean than vanilla cookie. This Healthy Fragrance* roller ball is perfectly portable, clutch worthy, spill proof and long-lasting!

I love love love the Pure Vanilla scent from LAVANILA and I am SO happy to have gotten this. It smells delicious and pretty without having that cloying sweetness that sometimes vanilla scents have. I will absolutely use this like a happy little camper.

Dose Color Pill Nail Polish in Stormy
Full Size Product - Value $15
DOSE® Color Pills are remedies for the blues, blacks, reds, & everything in between. Conceived with a tongue in cheek approach to color arousing whimsy via spot-on sized doses of saturated color. No product overload, no commitment, no insurance needed. Warning: mind blowingly addictive.

I didn't even know these polishes were still around. I remember hearing a bunch about them a few years ago and then I never really saw them again. Either way, I like this. It's a deep purple/grey shade with a subtle shimmer to it and, upon first swatch, it applies really nice and evenly and has a really good brush. Looking forward to doing a manicure with it.

theBalm Meet Matt(e) Hughes Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Committed
1.2ml Sample Size - Value $2.72
theBalm introduces a truly loyal long-lasting liquid lipstick—Meet Matt(e) Hughes. This long-wearing formula has a comfortable matte finish with no commitment issues. This matte vanilla mint liquid lipstick is stuck on you without feeling clingy!

And again we have a teeeeeeny tiny little sample from theBalm in a subscription service. Honestly, I'm kinda over it and wish theBalm would give out slightly larger samples if they're going to pimp this hard. Anyway, this is a good matte lip product and I would probably be interested in trying other shades. This shade is described as a pinky nude, but I would definitely place it far more in the caramel nude category because it really doesn't read pink at all on my lips. This is fine, wish it was a little bigger.

Coastal Scents Xpress Line Cosmetic Pencil
Full Size - Value $2.95
Xpress Line pencils are for anywhere you want xtra color, xpressive highlights, and xact definition.

Ugh. Dear Ipsy, can we stop with the black eyeliner pencils? Honestly, I've received so many black eyeliners that unless this was an instant holy grail status liner, I'm not going to be anything but grouchy about it. I would say this liner is alright. It's a little stiff for my tastes, but it's fairly black and it does go on fairly opaque. I really don't know how much use it'll get, especially since I feel like I have an insane collection of black liners, but it's fine.

Total Value: $35.06

Hmm. Not the best bag ever... In fact, this is the worst bag I've gotten in a long time. The nail polish is nice and I really like the fragrance. The liquid lipstick is a good formula, but I'm not a huge fan of the shade and I feel like the size is really small. The lotion is a throwaway and I'm sick as hell of black liners. I'm really hoping that next month is a little better from Ipsy!

As ever, check back next month for the traditional spoilers and unboxing posts - and if anyone is interested in Subscription box product updates or mini-reviews, let me know in the comments!
