SUBSCRIPTION: Ipsy Glambag November 2015

by - November 17, 2015

I was disappointed with this bag the minute I saw the spoilers for it and even more so when I saw what else Ipsy was offering to subscribers this month. However, I held out hope that the products that I did get that I didn't already know weren't for me would blow my mind... Not even going to beat around the bush here, guys... This month my Ipsy bag was garbage and I'm not even a little bit happy about it. I'm tempted to cancel my subscription, but I'm going to hold off until after I see what happens next month (and I spend some of those Ipsy points I've been hoarding).

Anyway, if you want to see the crap that I got in this month's bag (and one product that I'm actually happy about) keep reading!

Crown Brush C224 Oval Concealer Brush
Full Size - Value $7.45
This Oval Concealer Brush is made of 100% Flexible Japanese Torray Taklon Bristles (synthetic). It can be used for application and blending of all concealer formulas and for applying cream based shadows. The tapered tip is for precision placement and great for use around the lip area to conceal when wearing bold colors.

See all those bristles in surrounding the brush in the picture? That's most of the bristles that shed as soon as I took this out of the package and I am still sneering. Once I managed to get all the loose ones out, the rest seem to be fairly firmly in there... but I don't have the highest expectations for when it comes time to wash this brush. Considering all of the other brushes that were included in this month's bag, this is a double disappointed and a bit of a WTF.

Coolway Strong Hold Spray
15ml Deluxe Sample - Value $3.02
This innovative volumizing spray with humidity control, gives you all the volume you need and have it hold too. Now you can have flowing, beautiful hair all day long, without frizz!

Like I said in my spoilers post, I don't actually really use hairspray, so this is kinda a lose for me, but I'll throw it in my collection and pull it out when I need actual hold in my hair. As an observation... This stuff smells like the hairspray that my mom used on her over-the-top early 90s hair... Take from that what you will. This is kinda a throwaway for me.

Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara
Deluxe Sample - Value $8.30
Inspired by the on-set technique of layering a lengthening fiber mascara over a volumizing formula, this new studio-tested mascara exposes your longest, fullest lashes. No clumps, no flakes. Just maximum-impact, scene-stealing lashes.

I actually tried this out recently and it's just not my favorite, so I know I'm not going to use it. That said, I am going to give this away as a part of a gift in hopes that the recipient might enjoy it. It's not bad, mascara is just really subjective and this one doesn't do it for me. Sigh.

tréStiQue Mini Matte Lip Crayon in Chile Red
0.7g Mini Size - Value $8.33
Fall in love with this new matte lip pencil. Buttery soft, rich, yet light as air and uber comfortable with a futuristic vibrant finish. Infused with Vitamin E, and Monoi Tahiti Butter for moisturization and antioxidant properties.

So... This was the product I was most looking forward to in this month's bag, and therefore the product I was most disappointed about. Ipsy had 3 shades of this product this month and I, of course, got the one of the three that I will never wear. This cherry red is just way too juvenille for my tastes and ends up looking like a cherry popsicle stain on my lips within a pretty short time. I just won't wear it and I'm really, really annoyed about that.

China Glaze Nail Lacquer with Hardeners in 590 Soft Sienna Silks
Full Size - Value $7.99
China Glaze nail lacquer is the perfect addition to your collection. Formulated with China Clay – a natural hardener – so your tips dry fast with a high shine, chip-resistant finish.

Honestly, this is the only saving grace of this month's bag for me. I actually got a shade that I'll actually wear - one that I really, really love actually - and I already know that I like China Glaze nail polishes. I'm looking forward to wearing this and I think it'll get a lot of use all year 'round from me.

Total Actual Value: $35.09
(Total Value to Me: $7.99... ish.)

I can't even beat around the bush or put a positive spin on it - This month's bag sucked and this is the first time that I'm genuinely annoyed at having spent my money on Ipsy. Garbage brush that started falling apart as soon as I opened it, boring hairspray, mascara I don't like, lip product in a shade for children as far as I'm concerned, and a nail polish that I'll wear. Considering the exchange rate and the availability to me of China Glaze nail polish... this bag is absolutely nowhere near worth what I paid for it. And considering all of the products that they had on offer this month, I feel like I got the shittiest possible bag.

Ugh.

Here's hoping that next month gets a little better, because another month like this and I'll be very, very tempted to say Goodbye to my Ipsy subscription. Sigh.

Anyway, thanks for reading and I hope your bag was better than mine!
