SUBSCRIPTION: Ipsy Glambag January 2016 + Add On!

by - January 21, 2016

I can't even tell you guys how excited I was for this month's Ipsy Glambag to arrive. I was pretty much stalking my Canada Post app watching for it to be delivered. I used to have my Ipsy bag delivered to my office, but after last month's debacle I figured it was better to just have it shipped to my house because I know I can trust my mailman there. Luckily, the regular mailman at my office will be back next week so I will be switching my shipping address back so I don't have to wait until the end of the day (and risk my products being frozen when I get home if it gets delivered too early.) ANYWAY, enough rambling out of me! This month's selection of products was pretty exciting to me - and I also finally spent all of the Ipsy Points that I'd been saving up to get some goodies from Colourpop.

Keep reading to check out my bag and see my add on! And remember, all valuations are listed in Canadian dollars and are based on the current exchange rate - which will definitely inflate the value of this bag. I decided to do it this way because our Canadian dollar is making this bag pretty expensive to buy and I want to show the value to us Canadians for these products.

Mitchell And Peach English Growers English Leaf Body Cream
1oz Deluxe Sample - Value $12.38CAD

I really had no idea that this sample was going to be such a high value. I'm not the hugest fan of the scent, to be honest, but I did try this out on my notoriously dry arms this morning and I actually really like how it feels on my skin. I have to admit, this is the product that I was least excited about, but I'm actually pretty intrigued by it now.

pūr~lisse Blue Lotus 4-in-1 Eye Adore Serum
7ml Deluxe Sample - Value $44.06CAD

Not gonna lie, I about fell down when I did the calculations for the value of this little tube of eye serum. It's small, but honestly I don't mind that when it comes to eye cream because you need so little that even a small tube goes a fairly long way. I tried this out this morning as well and I quite like the feel of it. Unfortunately, I'm hoping that I don't fall in love with it because it'll be almost $100CAD for me to purchase the full size. Ack.

City Color Eyeshadow Trio in Falling Leaves
3 x .02oz Full Size - Value $8.69CAD

This is actually a really pretty selection of shades that I'm really drawn to. I love the warm matte sienna shade in the bottom right corner and the two shimmer shades are very pretty as well. I did try this out this morning as well and I like the look I got out of it, but I did have to build the colours up a fair bit. I'm going to try it out a few more times before I do my update towards the beginning of next month.

Peek Beauty Natural Stain Brow Powder in Espresso
.11oz Size - Value $31.95CAD

So, I'm doing this valuation based on the size and assuming that it's full size. I can't actually be sure though, because I couldn't find the volume for the actual product and I actually found that it generally comes in a duo, but I'm going with it. Just thought I'd let you know my thought process so you don't think I'm inflating my valuation. Anyway, this is a beautiful brow powder. It's not too pigmented and it's a very neutral shade that I think would work for a lot of different people. I haven't actually used this in my brows yet though, so I will update you next month!

theBalm Cosmetics Mr. Write (Now) Eyeliner Pencil in Scott B. Bordeaux
.01oz Full Size - Value $24.69CAD

You guys know I was getting salty about tiny samples from theBalm in subscription services, so this is a very exciting thing - a full size product! I was hoping to get the bronze shade, but I'm actually really happy that I got the purple because it's a deep, matte purple with very brown undertones and I think I'll actually get some good use out of it. Well, I will if it doesn't just crumble when I go to use it. I haven't tried it on the eyes yet, but when I went to swatch it, the tip broke off as soon as I touched it to my skin. So we'll see. Again, keep an eye out for my update!

Total Value: $121.77CAD ($83.74US)

So... This is by far the highest value Ipsy bag I've ever gotten in all the time that I've been subscribed to Ipsy - even just in US dollars. I have to say, this month's bag was really, really worth the over $20CAD that is costs now and I'm not the least bit disappointed, especially since I'm actually happy with all of the products. Any disappointment I've been feeling with Ipsy recently has pretty much been washed out with this bag.

But what makes it even better is that I managed to get my hands on a high value add on using my points!

Colourpop Forever Freshman Collection - Fall 2015 - 1500 Points
Value: $43.70CAD ($30 US)

Can we just lament for a moment how much the Canadian dollar sucks right now? UGH. Colourpop is no longer nearly as affordable for those of us up here in the great white north. Anyway, I wanted this collection pretty badly when it first came out, so I was shocked when I saw it listed with the other Ipsy add ons. I didn't have enough points when it was first listed, but it actually stayed on there long enough for me to get my hands on it and I'm over the moon excited. Only disappointment? The gold shade, Crimper, was open inside the box and has dried out quite a bit so I really only get a fine dust of glitter when I swatch it instead of any actual pigment. Sad. But still... I mostly wanted this for Koosh and Melrose, so the other 4 are just bonuses.

Clearly this is the most exciting Ipsy Bag I've gotten in quite some time and I'm hoping that next month can hold up to how great this one was. Of course, that'll be difficult since one of the most exciting parts was my add on. Still with $120 CAD value, Ipsy has convinced me to stick with them despite the crappy Canadian dollar. Good on you, Ipsy!

Ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription service that costs $10US + $5US Shipping for us Canadian subscribers. Each month you will receive a makeup bag filled with 5 sample and full size products that fit in with the them of that month. If you want to check out my previous Ipsy bags, you can find them here, and I also do full monthly spoilers where I list all of the products that are being included in this month's bags!

Thanks for reading!
