HOLIDAY 2016: BITE The Perfect Bite 4pc Set

by - September 27, 2016

One of my favorite holiday sets for the past few years has been these little tins that BITE Beauty releases every year. Generally they're just under $30CAD ($25US) and contain 4 deluxe sized lip products from their line. This year's set is called The Perfect Bite and is available exclusively at Sephora. Unfortunately, I missed out on last year's set because by the time I decided I wanted to buy it, it was well and truly sold out, so I didn't hesitate this year and bought it pretty much the first day it was available to not VIB Rouge members on the Sephora website.

This year's set contains 4 of the Amuse Bouche lipsticks, which makes sense since they were the huge release from BITE in 2016.The packaging is absolutely adorable, if you ask me, and I like that they included a plastic insert to hold the lippies that isn't flimsy. I like the idea of being able to toss this little set in my bag and have pretty much any neutral, wearable shade that I could want on hand, and I'd hate to have them rolling around loose in there and getting the tube all smudged up. Because yes, I care about these things. The tin also has a mirror in it, which again makes it great for touch ups on the go.

This is actually my first taste of the Amuse Bouche lipsticks because I had resisted picking any up until now. I have such a huge collection of lipstick that I do have trouble justifying $30 for one lipstick, I have to admit, so getting 4 different shades for $29CAD is a lot more justifiable to me. Each of these lipsticks contains 0.05oz of product, while a full size BITE Amuse Bouche lipstick contains 0.15oz of product, making these 1/3 of a full size.

One thing... The Sephora website claims this set is a $64 value, but I just don't see it. By my math, this is a $40 value... Am I wrong or is this pretty simple math? I mean, I guess you have to account for the extra packaging and whatnot, but when it comes to assigning value I tend to do it based on the product itself rather than the packaging. Anyway, it's still a good value, in my opinion, especially if you're like me and you don't often go through a lipstick and would rather have a few shades in a smaller quantities.

Amuse Bouche Lipstick in FIG
Fig is actually a shade that I'd been wanting for a while... but I actually think I thought it was a different shade than it actually is. This is quite a pink shade and isn't at all what I thought Fig was, but it's quite pretty and I think a lot of people will like it and I'm sure that it'll get some wear from me, but not as much as I thought.

Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Pepper
Mmmm Pepper. This is another shade that I've been wanting to try out and it's definitely one that I'll be reaching for a lot. On me, this is a kind of Your Lips But Better shade that is really, really easy to wear and will be great to just have in my purse on the go.

Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Honeycomb
I'll be honest... I was hoping for something with Honeycomb that didn't pan out. See, my all time ride-or-die favorite nude lipstick is from the old BITE Luminous Creme Lipstick line and it's in the shade Retsina and I didn't manage to get a backup before they were gone. I was hoping Honeycomb would be a dupe, but I swatched them next to each other and unfortunately... Not at all. Of course, this isn't to say that Honeycomb isn't a pretty shade, because it is, and I'm sure I'll wear it. It just won't be my favorite nude of life.

Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Nori
Nori is the shade in this set that I wasn't so sure about before I got it... And it actually might be my favorite, because it's not like anything I already have in my collection and I think it'll be a great fall shade that I'll reach for when I want one of those deep red brown shades to go with a warm eye look. Anyone else do that? Anyway, this is a great shade and I'm really glad they included it.

The formula of these lipsticks feels absolutely amazing on the lips. That's one thing that I've found with every BITE product I've used, that they feel really hydrating and nourishing and comfortable on the lips, and it's the thing that puts them a cut above in my opinion. For me, these have pretty average wear time and I don't expect them to make it through a whole day, but I can get a couple of hours of wear before I have to reapply.

I do think that these are a little more sheer than I was expecting (in the lip swatches, you can see a little bit of discoloration from dryness along the upper ridge of my top lip) but I do feel like they build up nicely and give a really pretty, healthy look to the lips. One thing that I just love about this formula is how smooth and plump it makes my lips look. At this point, I'm pretty used to wearing lipsticks that really accentuate the lines in my lips, but I feel like these make my lips look younger and juicier!

I think it was a great buy and I'm really, really glad I picked it up, even though I'm a little surprised with two of the shades. I still think I'll wear everything in here and it's definitely worth trying to them out and really seeing how I like them before I invest in a full size.

Will you be picking up the BITE The Perfect Bite Set this holiday season?
