MONTHLY FAVORITES: June 2017

by - July 05, 2017

Like last month, I'm sticking with the idea of categories of favorites rather than just grabbing a bunch of things that I've been loving. I like how that works because it forces me to really think about what I've been drawn towards for the passing month, especially if there might not be too many standouts when it comes to specific products. I'm definitely someone who likes to change it up.

If you want to see where my head has been at beauty-wise and the products that stood out this month, keep reading!

All Warm Eyes
I know warm eye looks have really been kind of the thing that everyone is obsessed with recently, but this month I was taking it next level for myself and really sticking to eye looks that either had warm neutrals or strong oranges and golds. These three products definitely got it done for me this month.

Klara Cosmetics Desert Rose Palette Review
I love this, I really do, and I definitely created some great looks with it this past month. While it can definitely go into that rosy arena, I was definitely reaching for the warmer shades. I used the bold orange matte on the edges of my eye looks and I just loved how it gave every look that fiery warmth.

Wet N Wild Limited Edition Color Icon Trio in Sun-Set To See
I picked this up ages ago and I hadn't ever really been reaching for it until I grabbed it on a whim this month and started using it constantly. These matte shades are just perfect for a simple, every day look, and I'm kind of in love. Makes me think I should start shopping my stash more often!

mark. Tough Luxe Eyeshadow Pot in Gilt Complex
This is another product that I've had in my collection for a while now that I hadn't really gotten much use out of until I completely fell in love with it this past month. The rose gold shade has a lot of metallic brightness and I think it makes a gorgeous lid shade, especially paired with mattes from the last two palettes. Definitely need to be shopping my stash some more.

Sunkissed Skin
Admittedly, until 2017 I haven't been the hugest fan of glowy products, though I have fallen in love with some in the past. This month, though, it's been all about giving my skin a bronzed, luminous look with a good hit of sheen and really warm, summery tones.

essence Sun Club Matte Bronzing Powder for Lighter Skin
I wasn't entirely sure how I was going to feel about this, but I really, really enjoyed it this month. It's quite a bit warmer than anything else I normally use, but I think it really gives me a nice bronzed look. Also, it has a suntan lotion smell that gets two thumbs up from me.

Wet N Wild Color Icon Blush in Rose Champagne
I loooooooooove this blush. I actually love this blush all year 'round, but this past month I've been reaching for it a lot because it gives a really natural, glowy look with just a hint of colour on the cheeks. Wet N Wild kills it with their blushes, but I think this one is my all time favorite.

Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso
So... It took me a LONG time to even buy this and it's actually new to my collection - even though I think it might be one of the most hyped blushes at the drugstore. It reads a little bit coral in the pan, but on the cheeks it gives a soft, peachy glow that I just can't get enough of.

w7 Strobe Time Highlighting Palette in It's Glow Time Review
So... this was in last month's favorites as well, but I had to feature it again because I reach for this almost every day. If you see this and the shades appeal to you, pick it up. It's such a great affordable highlighter option that's really versatile and gorgeous. Lovelovelove this palette!

Sleeping Masks
I've always kind of kept my sleeping masks as more winter skin care, but this month I've been reaching for them constantly. These three are my go to sleeping masks and I think each of them has their own unique benefits.

Laneige Water Sleeping Mask Review
This is such a cult Kbeauty staple and it's for very good reason. I tend to reach for this one when I want lighter weight hydration. I never wake up feeling like I have a heavy residue on my skin, but my skin looks hydrated and luminous.

Paula's Choice Radiance Renewal Mask Review
This is definitely the product I reach for when my skin really needs a pick-me-up. Dull skin is definitely an issue that I deal with here and there and when I use this I always wake up with a really great skin day.

VICHY Aqualia Thermale Night Spa Review
This is actually a product that I'm obsessed with for my winter skin, but when my skin is feeling dry or dehydrated, this is pretty much always what I reach for. It's a super infusion of hydration that feels really soothing and calming on my skin. Love it!

Back To Nails
Before I started this blog, I was going through a period of being super into all things nails. I was redoing my nails pretty much every day and trying out basic nail art designs and my collection of nail polish grew to basically epic proportions. Since getting more into the makeup and skin care side of things, my nail polish obsession has waned a little bit, but recently I've gotten back into nails and I'm kind of loving it.

JULEP Vanish Cuticle Softener & Remover
I honestly couldn't tell you how long this has been sitting in my collection essentially unused, but I finally reached for it recently and I really do like the way it works. I feel like it does a nice job of removing the dead skin and softening what's left behind at the same time. And my cuticles are looking better now than they have in a long time.

Revlon Holographic Pearls Transforming Top Coat
HEAVEN! I've been watching a lot of Simply Nailogical recently - I'm so late to her channel - and I've caught the Holo bug and this drugstore top coat has been the only thing keeping me from ordering 900 holo indie polishes online. It's so pretty. And it costs $5!

CND Vinylux Weekly Polish in Oxblood
I know summer is all about bright neons and stuff on the toes, but I'm a dark polish on my toes kind of a girl and this one has been pretty perfect for my toes. It's dark enough that I think it gives nice contrast, but it's not black - which I've traditionally used on my toes. Also, I really like this formula a lot.

Margaret Dabbs London Crystal Nail File
Like I said, I've seriously been neglecting my nails, so this has been around in my collection a while but I hadn't used it really at all until recently. Now I'm in love and I will never go back to an emery board. It's really easy and it leaves my nail edges really smooth and perfectly shaped.

I have to say, I'm really enjoying doing my favorites posts in categories rather than just a mishmash of products. I think it speaks not only to the products I've been loving, but the looks and types of products that have been jumping out at me. I'd love to hear what you think of this format in the comments.

Thanks for reading!
