Hey guys! Happy New Year!

I'm sure that regular blog readers have noticed that I took a couple of weeks off from blogging for the holidays. There are a couple of reasons for that.

The first is the obvious - the holiday season is incredibly busy and I had a lot of stuff going on, like most of us do. The second is a little bit more complicated. Honestly, I was feeling a little bit of blogging fatigue and I wanted to take some time to really think about the future of the blog. To be honest, there were a few moments where I considered whether or not I was going to continue blogging at all - but ultimately there wasn't a lot of weight to those thoughts, I just needed to rethink the way that I blog.

One thing that tends to weigh on me is numbers. I tend to put a lot of pressure on myself to grow my audience and increase my numbers, which I've decided that I don't want to care about anymore. I'm happy to have the audience that I do and I feel like I've got some really great readers who tend to appreciate what I do here, and that's what's important. In 2018, I really want to start letting myself off the hook and realize that I have something here that makes me happy. Because it does, I love blogging.

I also want to try some new things here on the blog - and I hope that you guys will bear with me trying out some new things in the coming weeks. I want to start including some more non-beauty content that I think my core audience will enjoy and I also want to start doing different types of beauty content, rather than just sticking to mostly reviews.

So what can you expect? Well, that I'm not entirely sure about yet. I have some ideas that I'm batting around in my head and I hope to flesh them out soon. I definitely want to start doing more nail content on the blog, which will be new for me since I've kept my burgeoning interest in nail art mostly confined to my Instagram up until now. And I also want to talk more about beauty science, which is something that really interests me and that I really like to research and would really like to share.

If there's anything that you'd like to see on the blog in 2018, I'd love it if you'd let me know in the comments and I do hope that you'll stick around if there happen to be some growing pains in the coming weeks.

Before I make any changes, though, I'm super excited for a couple of weeks worth of favorites post that I have planned starting tomorrow, January 2! I decided to do them a little bit differently this year, so I'll have posts that have my Top 5 products in a variety of different categories! Make sure to check back for those as they go live.
