MANI MONDAY: Holo Gradient Octopus Nails

by - July 23, 2018

Hey guys! For this week's #CBBxManiMonday, our theme was Sea Creatures to tie in to Shark Week and I went back and forth on what I wanted to do for this theme. Seriously, I thought about trying something with jellyfish or sea turtles (my all time favorite creature ever), but ultimately I ended up without a ton of time to put together my mani and I ended up doing a pretty simple gradient with some octopus tentacle stamping and I think it turned out pretty good!

Like I said, I kept this nail art pretty simple, but I think that ultimately it ends up looking a lot more intricate than it actually is. First, I started with one coat of Color Club Fingers Crossed, which is a pale sort of silvery green linear holo. Next, I used a makeup sponge to apply a gradient of Fingers Crossed to Color Club Over The Moon, which is a much deeper teal color. I felt like this gave sort of the look of water moving deeper. For my stamping, I used the Bundle Monster BM-XL25 stamping plate and BornPrettyStore black stamping polish to get the octopus tentacles. Because I only had the one stamp, I turned and rotated the image so that each nail was a little bit different even though they were all done with the same image. And voila! I think the mani turned out pretty good... so I decided to take my sea creature to the lake with me!

When it comes to only having a little bit of time, I think a simple gradient with some stamping over top is a great option because it gives a really intricate look without having to have too much time or hand painting skills - which I definitely don't have!
