REVIEW: IT Cosmetics Miracle Water 3-in-1 Glow Tonic

by - July 19, 2018

One thing that I'm always excited about is when I get to try out products that promise to be completely unique. It doesn't happen all that often, but when it does it always makes me super interested. When I read the description for the IT Cosmetics Miracle Water 3-in-1 Glow Tonic*, which promises to do the job of a micellar water, a toner, and an essence all in one step I was definitely very intrigued.

About:
Developed with plastic surgeons, Miracle Water™ 3-in-1 Tonic combines a skin-brightening radiance booster to enhance radiance, a potent anti-aging treatment essence to reduce the look of lines and wrinkles and restore skin's appearance, and a skin-softening micellar cleanser to gently remove dirt, oil, impurities, and all traces of makeup in one simple step. Perfect for all skin types, this groundbreaking tonic is formulated with Secret Sauce™ fermented complex: seven key fermented ingredients that work to increase absorbency and maximize the efficacy of your moisturizers and serums. Use Miracle Water after cleansing or in place of your cleanser to help instantly reveal younger-looking skin, and experience more miraculous results over time.

When I first received this, the name Glow Tonic clearly had me checking into whether or not this formula had an acid in it, but discovered that this isn't that type of glow product. Instead, this is formulated with fermented ingredients and fruit extracts, which reminds me quite a bit of more nurturing formulas in Korean skin care products than what's currently going on in western formulas. In my opinion, there's not yet enough evidence that fermented ingredients are the next big thing in skin care yet, but I do think that there are preliminary studies that are showing promise and I've personally had great success with essences containing fermented ingredients, so I was excited to try this out.

For me, this is a product that I'm happy to reach for both morning and night because it doesn't have the type of intense actives that I reserve for bedtime skin care. I apply it to my skin directly after cleansing while my skin is still damp in the evening and have occasionally reached for this as my only cleanser in the morning, since groggy pre-coffee me sometimes just doesn't have a full traditional cleanse in me. Because this promises to be both a cleansing product and a treatment product, I feel like it works best as that bridge product between cleanser and serum or moisturizer.

Upon application, this product feels really light and fresh without any heaviness or greasiness and no feeling of senstivity or stinging. As it soaks into the skin, it sort of just disappears and leaves my skin feeling lightly hydrated and soft. Unlike what a lot of people think of as a traditional toner, there's definitely no tight, dry feeling when I use this product. One of the things that I like about this formula is that there's good evidence that fermented ingredients can help your skin absorb product better, so I feel like if I use this before something with a strong active, I'm likely to get better results from that product - although that's not evidence based, only my hope.

Immediately after applying this, it soaks in quite quickly and my skin feels really hydrated and plump. It's a really interesting formula that way because, unlike some other essences that have more of a light gel like texture, this one straight up feels like putting water on your face but it ultimately does change the way your skin feels and packs a lot of hydration. With consistent use, I think this is a really great addition to my skin care routine. With most products like this one, the results I've seen are generally short term, but it definitely helps my skin to look and feel really hydrated and healthy. As a makeup remover, which I decided to test it on just before writing this post, it actually works fairly amazing. It removed my stubborn eye makeup quite well without any stinging or discomfort.

Overall, I'm really enjoying this product and I'm looking forward to continuing to use it as a part of my nighttime skin care routine. I think it's a really solid product with some interesting skin care ingredients, different from any other products that I might have thought were similar before trying this. It's actually pretty perfect for summer skin care because it's so lightweight but effective.
